Momofuku Ko to Raise Lunch, Dinner Prices

Does David Chang know we're still in a recession? Momofuku Ko has announced that starting next week, lunch prices will go up $15 and dinner prices up $25. This means lunch tops out at $175, up $25 from just last year. Apparently, this is to provide them with "the opportunity to cook with a greater variety of ingredients." Keep in mind, this is $15 more for a meal that still takes three hours to serve.

    Wotta buncha prix-dixe.

There's so many places in the city where you pay $100 (at least) for a dinner tasting menu. I haven't eaten at Ko yet, but there's nothing scandalous about this story at all.

It's easy to be a knee-jerk hater these days...

  • Potty Boy

    "knee-jerk hater"

    One that hates knee jerking?

  • GOP

Momofuku Ko is for ppl with sophisticated palates. Not these hipsters that think everything is lame. "Lame! That's so lame!" Ko is Per Se quality food for half the price.

  • Sophisticated palates? You're kidding right?

question of the day. How many comments in a post before the word hipster shows up?

get over GOP. go workout or use some rogaine.

    Go shave your beard, buddy.

    You saying per se sucks?

I had one of the most boring uninspired meals at Ko. Then again I ate at Nihonryori Ryugin and L'Atellier De Joel Robuchon the 2 weeks before, so I set myself up for disappointment.

  • GOP

No way! Per Se was amazing.

  • chris

What's with the Momofuku hate? You get one of the best meals in the world for pennies. I suppose, you'll just have to settle for dinner at Per Se.

  • TrippinJoJo

how many pennies did you shell out for the best meal in the world? I hope you had them in rolls

  • yea, just don't give him/them your money. I went twice, once to test it out and then twice to confirm it wasn't all that. Conclusion, it really wasn't all that and my money goes elsewhere...

that place is a tourist trap/I'm white but I heard from a friend this place was good.

    "Tourist trap"? You're a clown.

Explain to me how your average tourist who rolls into town for what will likely be a long weekend, sat on their PCs all day for 7 days prior to their arrival in NYC to try to score a Friday or Saturday night ressy at Ko. Come on.

The only people you'll find eating at Ko are typically foodies who are willing to go through the ass pain required to get a reservation (that is, not a 9:40pm on Monday night reservation).

Hell, Jean Georges is a bigger "tourist trap" than Ko simply because more people (outside of NYC) have heard of it and it's a hell of a lot easier to get a reservation at...

    Yeah, you showed them! ::rolleyes::

  • Potty Boy

Capitalism, dude. Don't like it? Don't go.

  • killerasp
