Astonishing. Graffiti artists are still doing the ol' "sneak into a museum and hang unsolicited work" trick. The latest, Mat Benote, fancies himself a "Fine Art Graffiti Artist" and has actually already pulled this stunt at the Guggenheim. His latest conquest was the walls of the Brooklyn Museum, and one of his minions wrote to tell us this is "the Cloak & Dagger style of graffiti art that he has become known for." So controversial! So... 2005!
We've contacted the Brooklyn Museum to find out if the piece is still there, and will update when we hear back.

Doesn't look any worse than the kindergarden artwork already on the wall.
Are they having a garage sale? I'd pay $2 for the thing in the middle, I need string.
Re: thing in the middle...I thought they were having a clothing drive for the homeless and that was the drop off point.

I think Gothamist should have a tag titled "meh".
That's ok. If it was in the Bklyn Museum then nobody will notice it anyway.
funny
He also left his laundry in the middle of the room.
Now as soon as he can convince someone to go into the Brooklyn Museum, he will feel special!
If you have to sneak your art into a museum in order to get it hung, it might be time to consider a career change.
not really fair. it's incredibly hard, nigh onto impossible, to get into a large gallery/museum like that. they tend to only hang named artists, and it takes years, if ever, to make a name for yourself. you usually have to have less than perfect integrity, and/or die first.
i appreciate the guerilla tactics. sometimes that's what it takes.
so 2005? so 1976. a friend of mine hung a small piece i did in high school in the Louvre in 1976. never got it back, have no idea if it's still there, lol. i suspect it lasted less than an hour....
Obviously Banksy was the first one to do this but good luck to any artist who wants to try and get their art out there.
Banksy Canvas Prints!
