DA Wants Raw, Unedited Video from ACORN Exposé

091809acornsting.jpg Brooklyn prosecutors expect to meet next week with gotcha "journalists" James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles to view raw hidden-camera footage recorded by the duo at an ACORN office in Brooklyn, where they duped employees of the community organizing group into giving bad advice to Giles, posing as a prostitute with O'Keefe as her pimp. A spokesman for the Brooklyn DA tells the Daily News, "This is a first step, and there are possible criminal charges." As you probably know by now, the heavily edited video has become a rallying cry for drown-government-in-the-bathtub right-wingers, and yesterday the House of Representatives voted 345 to 75 to deny funding for ACORN. The vote came on a provision attached to a student aid bill; on Monday the Senate voted 83 to 7 to deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN. According to the AP, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi described the latest allegations against ACORN as "horrible," but she still believes the group has many honest employees and stresses that it's up to House-Senate negotiators to determine whether the provision to cut funding remains in the final version of the bill.

Umm, did not notice a link to the actual source all this, maybe he can start here:

You folks need to focus in on the article instead of blubbering on about the case in general. This is awesome, ACORN is going to be investigated and the video shot by the that guy is going to be used to get people arrested! Right? You should be cheering this new development instead of howling about old news. Instead, you are just hollering about nothing and distracting from the progression of the case. Why?

My guess: Those raw, unedited videos are going to be conveniently lost when the subpeona arrives as they are far too not-damning to be let out into the public.

    Ill take those odds

  • ozik

So you think that the full unedited videos will be release to the public? I bet ten imaginary internet dollars to your five that the videos do not arrive intact.

    This piece is embarrassing.

Are you serious? Are you that blindly partisan? I would LOVE to find some of your writing on F911 or Bowling for Columbine and see if you call that "heavily edited"

JDS is shaming himself and the website with this drivel.

Duped? Get a fucking clue already; I know it's painful, but it seems that in this case only the hooker has the heart of gold and not the community activist.

If these two had exposed some right wing or conservative organization, you brainwashed liberals would be calling them heroic whistleblowers.

That preacher's daughter sure know a lot about dressing slutty.

Funny; must be time to kill the messenger at Gothamist.

"Gotcha journalism"? The same kind that 60 minutes and NBC news have been practicing for decades? Oh, wait! It's bad because it was used to expose a left wing organization. That must be it.

If only some enterprising MSM journalist had done it and not a couple of twenty-something bloggers. Where's Charles Gibson when you need him? A: with his head up his ass not knowing anything about this major story (congressional action and all). As John Stewart said, " I'm a fake journalist and I'm embarrassed that I was scooped on this".

Still can't understand how anyone can fall for that pimp look he has going on? Looks like a pimp costume you'd find at Ricky's.

  • Clarice City

Not to mention it's a black stereotype a la blaxploitation movies of the 70's. And why are the protitutes from El Salvador? Do all teenage prostitutes have to be Latina? This coming from the guy who insisted that Lucky Charms are offensive? What a total douchenozzle.
