The White House may have publicly distanced itself from former president Jimmy Carter's remarks saying that racism was at the heart of Rep. Joe Wilson's remarks and other anti-Obama sentiment—White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, "The president does not believe that that criticism comes based on the color of his skin"—but Carter continued to hammer the point home. Yesterday, while speaking to Emory University freshman, he said, "When a radical fringe element of demonstrators and others begin to attack the president of the United States as an animal or as a reincarnation of Adolf Hitler or when they wave signs in the air that said we should have buried Obama with Kennedy, those kinds of things are beyond the bounds... I think people who are guilty of that kind of personal attack against Obama have been influenced to a major degree by a belief that he should not be president because he happens to be African-American." Carter even weighed in on Kanye West's Taylor Swift dis, saying it was "completely uncalled for" and "his punishment was to appear on the new Jay Leno show." Ha!

Now you have a whole news channel (highest rated cable channel), promoting, accepting, and normalizing the outrageous, divisive, sometimes racist things. Which then ends up with politicians also then supporting the same thing.
When did that happen with the left? I don't remember Pelosi or Kerrey or anyone saying it was yell, scream, and call people names?
In other words, we always have extreme people on both sides. I just start worrying when it's pushed and accepted as normal from media outlets and politicians themselves, which I don't think was done at this level previously.
Bush 43 and Giulani got vilified by the left as no other politicians in recent memory. Mr. Worst President ever (double digit inflation, double digit unemployment, worldwide humiliation in Iran and Afghanistan, couldn't even get anything done with his own party controlling Congress) and appeaser of dictators everywhere didn't seem too bothered by that.
Every President since Reagan has had to deal with this moron. He even tried to sabotage Clinton's foreign policy by meddling in the North Korean negotiations, something for which he should have been thrown in jail.

gas rationing (could only buy on certain days)
high unemployment rate
high interest rates
American citizens being held hostage in Iran which Carter couldn't get released (sent a rescue team over there which ended up crashing in the desert)
Its painfully obvious that Carter is simply introducing the "race" card into the news to take up important media time to distract us yet again what is really going on in Washington..And what a joke - Bush Jr was called every dirty word in the english lexicon by the left in his 8 years so Obama is just beyond criticism...Its a real low tact being used by Carter here and its shameful since there are legitimate issues that need to be debated....The Left apparently is frightened to discuss issues and its own hidden agenda...

Because really, being in NYC as long as I have, most people here are liberal. I'd be surprised if most of these people are actually from NY.
President Carter is perhaps one of the most humble, honest and selfless persons on the political scene today. He could have taken the road most traveled by many (silence and look the other way) but instead he put his neck and his reputation on the line and told it like we all know it is. RACISM is a live and well in America and if we as a nation do not get it under control, it will be our undoing and the end of democracy and freedom as we think we know it. It is ok to disagree without being disagreeable. Often when people make personal attacks on a person for their opinions there are usually underlying reasons for that reaction or response ( call it bias, conditioning, beliefs, racism etc.). Thought always precede actions. President Carter simply brought attentions to something which concerns him as a person and as an American. The behaviors we are witnessing against the President are being fueled by racism. How be it, there are many persons caught up in these actions who may not be racist but instead are being used as pones by racist undercurrents and triggers they my or may not be aware of. The world is watching us more closely now than ever to see if our democracy really works. Some are waiting to see us fall from within and some are rooting for us to suceed. Thank you President Carter for your wisdom and making the call for action.
