Video: Jimmy Carter Says "You Lie" Remark Was Based On Racism

2009_09_jcarter.jpg Last night, former President Jimmy Carter spoke to NBC News' Brian Williams about Rep. Joe Wilson's "You lie!" outburst during President Barack Obama's health care reform speech last week. And Carter was blunt, saying, "I think it's based on racism. There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."

Carter also said that the South's inherent racism was also leading some protesters to equate Obama to the Nazis, "Those kind of things are not just casual outcomes of a sincere debate on whether we should have a national program on health care. It's deeper than that."

Politico's Ben Smith writes, "Jimmy Carter tonight becomes the most prominent Democrat to say what very many Democrats are thinking: That there's a large element of ancestral racism in the Southern hostility toward Obama. He's succeeded, now, in making that the nation's central conversation. And regardless of it's merits, it's hard to overstate what bad politics that is for the White House. There's a reason that candidate Obama virtually never cried racism, and it wasn't because he doesn't believe it exists."

The former South Carolina Democratic party leader Dick Harpootlian told the AP, "I think Joe's conduct was asinine, but I think it would be asinine no matter what the color of the president. I don't think Joe's outburst was caused by President Obama being African-American. I think it was caused by no filter being between his brain and his mouth."

As for Wilson, a Republican representing South Carolina who is up for re-election, he was rebuked by the House—in a mostly partisan vote of 240-179—and he reiterated that his remarks were made at the "wrong place, wrong time," but added, "I'm very disappointed because it seems like a double standard. I see, as people — look, I was there on the floor when President Bush was booed and not a word was said. That's a double standard — I’m willing to live with that."

A leading Dem finally calls racism on the South, which is at least part of the reason why they've been so vehement on seeing Obama fail, no matter what he proposes. Trust me, NO white Southerner wants a black man telling them ANYTHING authoritatively.

Yes, all people of European ancestry living in the South are bigots and racists.

Or, conversely, the was a really stupid statement for you to have made.

Ok, 'all' is a bit hyperbolic. How about 'most' or 'nearly all'?

Uh, Jimmy Carter is the South, too. Georgia, to be precise.

God Bless you President Carter.

So glad somebody finally said it.

unfortunately this will now dissolve into a silly debate about whether the south carolina representative is deep down, really and truly, a racist. The important point is that the whole health care debate (and the birthers, etc) has been fueled by latent racism, creating a horribly uncivil atmosphere that is completely out of proportion for the issues at hand.

Yep, but in fairness, I don't think all the protestors are acting on racism as basis of their anger, but at least some of them are.

For anyone to claim otherwise, is just wrong.

Racism is often used as an easy excuse for silly things (ie; professor Gates). It sometimes gets used so much that people roll their eyes. Like whenever Sharpton talks. It can become a scapegoat.

But this is different.

I can't even talk sense to some older folks I know. They swear they're not racist. But when I mention Obama, they get red, angry red. Even I - who could not stand Bush - would not get that way.

No, there is something deeper troubling these people. Of course, not everyone. But a good amount.

I believe that we're seeing the rise of the new Confederacy.
This time, we should let them leave.

Won't have much choice since we're not allowed to have guns to fight them with up here.

It's true. We won't have guns, but ultimately, we won't even have rights as American citizens anymore because our government will have annihilated the Constitution and Bill of Rights. But that's beside the point.

Many people judge others on the color of one's skin, ethnicity, and even religion... And it's not just Southerners or small town folk; there are plenty of educated city dwellers who make racist jokes and belittle the existence of people who are seemingly "different".

And now here, I must leave a gem of a verse from Bob Marley (he really says it best):

They don't want to see us unite:
All they want us to do is keep on fussing and fighting.
They don't want to see us live together:
All they want us to do is keep on killing one another.

we're not "allowed" to have guns? i own several guns, right here up north ready for battle when the south rises again. quit nibble-nobbin' and buy one with a nice fat brick of ammo.

God Bless Jimmy Carter !!!

Just one day after Jimmy Carter's election, the New York Times ran a profile explaining his remarkable political victory -- how a one-term governor from Georgia, with no significant record, began planning his presidential campaign in the second year of his one-and-only four-year term, and then went on to secure the nomination from more experienced rivals and defeat a sitting president:

He believed passionately that if he could talk to enough voters about a “Government as good as the American People,” he could win…

Words, skillfully used, could play dual roles for him. Liberals came to conceive of him as of their own. Conservatives responded to him sympathetically as well. Blacks in Harlem voiced their support. Whites in Mississippi got behind him…

The theme was always visible: a government as good as the people. It was voiced a hundred different ways, but the impact on his listeners was constant.

Americans, he said, were entitled to decent, compassionate, honest, competent government because Americans are decent, compassionate, honest and competent.

In other words: Jimmy Carter won by constantly telling Americans that he was the one they were waiting for.

He made them think that by voting for him, it reflected well on them. He played on the electorate's hope for change, and he offered a blank slate on which that hope could be projected. His speeches were secular sermons that would later translate into presidential addresses about the need to transcend our inordinate fear of communism and to overcome our malaise that was hindering his policies.

Carter was certified as the One in the closing benediction at the 1976 Democratic convention, given by no less a figure than the father of Martin Luther King, Jr. Televised on all three networks (the entire visual media at the time), the benediction heralded Jimmy Carter as someone sent to redeem the country: "Surely the Lord sent Jimmy Carter to come on out and bring America back where she belongs."

Thirty-two years later, few people believe the Lord sent him, or that he brought America back where she belonged. Instead we ask, what were we thinking when we elected him?
He was a blank slate to be filled with visions of Roosevelt and Kennedy. People thought his unique background and perspective would unite North and South, black and white. He gave good speeches.

The answer is: some of the same things we are thinking now.

Carter is a bigot and a bumbling, foolish old man whose foolishness has expanded to become advanced senility, and his politics are best described as "hare-brained Gandhiesque"

Carter is a bigot towards Jews because he casts the Jewish lobby as the "behind the scenes manipulator", while AIPAC is very up front in the open about its lobbying.

Carter on the other hand quietly receives millions in funds from the Saudis, and he expects people top believe him that he's an indpendent voice not influneced in any way.

Carter wants us to believe that Jewish money corrupts but Arab money doesn't. He's a bigot plain and simple.

I used to think the same way, but Carter, even at the age of 85, is sharper than ever and hits a cord with what he said last night. It would be naive to think that his take on inherent southern racism is untrue. The tone I've heard about him so far is extremely negative, more so than with Carter or Clinton.

"AIPAC is very up front in the open about its lobbying."

It is more so now, but that hasn't always been the case. And even if they are I've never been a fan of their heavy handedness when it comes to politicians who disagree with their stance.

The current Jimmy "almost a President," Carter is no different than the past Jimmy "not quite a President," Carter.

The only good thing about former President Peanutz was, he laid the groundwork for two terms of Ronald Reagan, and an historic example of the difference between bumbling incompetence and malaise, to accomplishment and optimism. I don't think Ol'Peanutz has been the same since that Swamp Rabbit almost got him.

Oh by the way, "Racism" is an epithet much overused these days...like "fascist," or "neo-con." It has become a meaningless accusation in the same vein as the 50's accusation of "square" or the 60's "uncool." It really means nothing more than the fact that the user disagrees with someone else and wishes to discredit him by tossing garbage.

Bottom Line: Carter himself is one big sad episode in American history.

You'd proven one thing: That you can't separate issues. If Carter speaks out against the atrocities committed by the Israeli government, and you disagree with that assertion because you're a Zionist, then you must attempt to discredit every word he says about all issues. It says more about you than it does about Carter.

Truth is, anyone who blindly supports Israel and their racist, apartheid state is disqualified in offering reasonable debate on issues of racism. That would be like getting the KKK's opinion of ethnic cleansing in South Africa.

Carter is a spineless, appeasing, pious, preachy and catastrophically incompetent excuse for a human being whose inept micromanagement of the POTUS office wrecked the US economy, encouraged Soviet imperialism and almost single-handedly kick-started a resurgence of Islamic imperialism that we are still dealing with almost three decades after he was booted out of office in a landslide.

Carter should button his mouth buy a new pair of overalls and a new hammer and go back permanently to Habitat for Humanity. Let him try to build houses instead of tear down America.

Momoran...you think he's trying to "tear down america?" That he's spineless? That he's responsible for islamic imperialism (whatever that means)...and by the way, there's nothing on the internet linking him with islamic imperialism, so is this an assertion that you have determined through investigative reporting, Mr. Sherlock? Are you on crack or just pain stupid? Nevermind, I know the answer to that question.

YOU, your opinion and comments are all insignificant!

"Truth is, anyone who blindly supports Israel and their racist, apartheid state is disqualified".

Anyone who thinks Israel is apartheid is disqualified from being considered an intellectual. There are mosques all over Israel - BLACK JEWS were rescued and brought to Israel. Arabs, (including jihadist scum) are in the Knesset (Israel's congress).

You want to see apartheid, try opening a church or synagogue in an muslim nation; try being a christian or animist IN DARFUR, you stupid moron.

Here's a hot tip for you: try bringing your copy of DAS KAPITAL into most muslim nations and see how fast they cut your freaking head off.

Please do it before you breed any further.

It's a sad day when you can't disagree with a person's ideology because of the color of their skin without being called a racist.

Shouting "You lie!" isn't disagreeing with Obama's ideology it is slander. Wilson's a backbencher who hasn't had one significant accomplishment while in Congress. If he wanted health care reform but disagreed with the president's approach he would be busy working with his colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the House to craft a better bill. Instead of putting in the hard work to improve health care a 62-year old man had a hissy fit and called the president a liar. How is that any way for a member of Congress to act?

And, since people are sending him Ca$h after acting like an Ass, expect more behavior like that...

i am from NYC but lived down south for a few years. Believe me most southern whites cannot stand the fact that we have a President who is not completly white! That being said, Carter's remarks were just dumb. Does he know Wilson or is just guessing or assuming because he is from SC?

Oh please, enough of the race card already. I'm sick of this crap. Criticize a black person and automatically it's racism. I guess that's a lot easier than having to engage in a real debate or deal with anyone who disagrees with you.

In any case, Obama is a liar, he's a politician isn't he? The brainwashed liberals may see him as a messiah, I do not. Joe Wilson was right. You don't like the message, attack the messenger.

Oh, please. It's not "automatically" racism. It just happens to be in this particular case.

"The brainwashed liberals may see him as a messiah"

That's silly. Looking to someone smart to help us change things for the better, that's all.

Obama did Carter a huge favor. Carter is now only the 2nd worst president in US history.

Maybe, but nobody will ever surpass number one -- Dubya.

Carter who?

I would be OK with all the self-hating _______, just killing themselves over all their guilt.

if you don't think racism is a factor in the reaction to obama you're blind, dumb, or a liar.

In Ides' case, take your pick. Or maybe all three.

the sum of: lack of higher education, actual sources of complex information, and advocacy for a truth dictated by special interests, make republicans a very special race of zombies.

Ditto that.

Ides - a white guy not running for office or anything points out racism and you claim he's pulling out "the race card"? Lame.

Jimmy Carter is projecting his own racism, so are a lot of self-loathing liberals here.

Fact is, Obama has lied about a lot of things.

You obama worshippers can't debate rationally so you resort to smearing anyone who dares say anything negative about your messiah.

"You obama worshippers can't debate rationally so you resort to smearing anyone who dares say anything negative about your messiah."
Rrrrriiiiiggggghhhhtttt...

And the Teabagers with their NAZI posters are perfectly "rational". Birthers too, perfectly rational. Let's not forget "Death Panel" people like Ex Gov. Palin.
All people who engage in "rational" debate.

You do realize that comments like that are one reason few people take you seriously, right?

I thought the thing with Obama's back to school speech being either "reviewed" by schools before play or parents requesting their children not see it was probably based on racism.

A lot of the anti-Bush feeling 8 yrs ago was so passionate due to the way he beat Gore, people really felt robbed.

Why are the anti-Obama people so passionate? Is it because more than half the country legit voted for him or is there something else under it all?

Mr. Carter- simply reveals and thereby confirms what a schmuck-putz he really is. . .
and has been all his life!

He may have been a ditz during his tenure as President, but Carter has redeemed himself somewhat with all the work he has done since then.

He also may be more qualified to discuss the issue of Race in the south than you are, so perhaps you should at least think about what he has to say without fully dismissing him as a crackpot and offer a rebuttal if you don't agree.

I wouldn't bother trying to argue with the one-comment account "donlane" back at 12. I read that comment "while AIPAC is very up front in the open about its lobbying" and thought, hmmm, those words are familiar and, hey, they are familiar.

That whole post in those exact words shows up here, in comments on another blog, a year and a half ago:

http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2008/04/that-racist-jimmy-carter.html#c8601532666907937947

Amazing! He must have a keyboard shortcut for his Carter v. AIPAC smear. Maybe he waits for a google alert related to Carter and then rushes off to dump that crap into the comments? Whatever "donlane"/"KGS" i's up to, it ain't very "up front in the open."

aw, hey, remember when political opponents could disagree on the best course forward for the nation without turning every single thing into a battle of good v. evil?

actually, having been born in '83, I don't remember that, but man, it's sounds nice.

Jimmy Carter is qualified to call Jim Wilson a racist because no one is a bigger racist than Carter. I hope Jimmy Carter expires and fast. He's a disgusting, hate filled, failure of a human being.

"He's history's greatest monster!" - The Simpsons

Huh? And you base this on what exactly?

on every disgusting thing he has said about Jews over the past 30 years. He's an old reverend, you'd think he'd have some decency but he's nothing more than a hate filled piece of garbage. There is no fate horrible enough for him.

/citation needed

Disagreeing with Israeli policy /= antisemitism

Exactly.

He's hardly Anti-Semitic...

I'm curious. If Carter hates Jews as much as you say, why did he broker the historic peace treaty between Egypt and Israel? Why didn't he just tell Egypt to go ahead and blow Israel off the face of the Earth?

Bush brought peace to Iraq, I 'm sure he;ll be remembered as fondly right? Carter handcuffed Israel to that stupid agreement which resulted in both treaty signers (Sadat and Begin) being assassinated - what an amazing legacy.

you're right - my error. But Sadat was a scant two years later by enraged extremists. Carter should be proud of something else - though I can't imagine what that would be.

Oh. My. God. You obviously have no idea how ridiculous you sound. Let's compare.

Carter: Helped Begin and Sadat sit down, talk, negotiate and hammer out a peace accord. No bloodshed for Egyptians, Israelis or Americans. Approval from around the world.

Bush: Invaded a sovereign country under false pretenses. As of this month, over 4000 American soldiers killed, over 30,000 wounded. God only knows the civilian toll. Condemnation from around the world.

Pray tell, how did Bush "bring peace" to a country that was not at war until the US invaded? And Carter is responsible for Sadat's assassination? I guess you'd probably say that if that uppity Martin Luther King had shut his yap about all the civil rights crap, he'd still be alive today.

Ah... right back to the race card, I could practically set a watch by it.

No race card. Just picking out a simple example of your "don't do anything progressive potentially dangerous" philosophy in life that even your small mind can comprehend. I do notice that you couldn't dispute any of the other points. Tell me, Bush starts a war that has cost us over $1 trillion and counting, money we could have sorely used in this recession. What did the Mideast peace accord cost? Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize. I sincerely doubt Dubya will be feted by anyone, ever.

Let's be completely honest. Obama could walk on water tomorrow and you and Ides would still have nothing good to say about him.

"Race Card"?
Nice to see you use it to ignore anything as well as real issues with Racists...

user-pic

As much as I can't stand Jimmy Carter, there's probably something to what he's saying. It's not that Wilson is a complete racist, it's just that Obama's black makes it easier for Wilson to say what he said.

everyone is racist, prejudiced, ageist, sexist, etc.

each of us use razor-thin criteria to judge one another every single day.

next newsflash please (preferably without senile, increasingly irrelevant past-president please).

very RushLimbaughish of you!

Let's not change the status quo, lets promote misrepresentations, double speak, and total disinformation, because everybody has the right to be the worse they can be!

That's the leadership republicans prefer!

your reply has absolutely nothing to do with what i stated and completely misses the mark on my political affiliation. strike 1.

As I previously posted about Maureen Dowd's Sunday Times column, she said what Wilson really shouted was "You lie. boy." South Carolina Republicans are politically corrupted. It's a system of Old white guys yearning to go back to the pre Civil Rights era where the Niggras knew their place. The fact that a black guy is President is their worst nightmare come true. I'm no Jimmy Carter fan (I remember the 14% mortgages), but he's right on this issue.

And you blindly believe Maureen Dowd? I think this is the most unintelligent thing a person can do. Was she there? If he did in fact say "boy", how come NO ONE ELSE is reporting it?

This isn't about my beliefs. What Ms Dowd wrote was an assumption on her part. We know that Wilson didn't say "boy"., but that's what he meant. The white Republican vote for Obama in SC was about 11%. John McCain was soundly defeated in the 2004 Primaries by the same liars who defamed him incessantly but supported him in 2008. An educated, literate, well spoken black guy scares them to hysteria.

"We know that Wilson didn't say "boy"., but that's what he meant"

I know you didn't say "I agree with carter that Jews are blood suckers and I hope the muslms cut my head off last after they have paid me royally"

but I know thats what you meant.

"Carter also said that the South's inherent racism was also leading some protesters to equate Obama to the Nazis, 'Those kind of things are not just casual outcomes of a sincere debate on whether we should have a national program on health care. It's deeper than that.'"

QFT, except I would replace "deeper" with "more shallow".

All human beings have prejudices and feel more comfortable with people of their own race.

What this last election showed was that many Whites were willing to cross the racial barrier in voting for a President. Does President Carter attribute the overwhelming support of Obama among Blacks to be associated with racism also? Why did so many Black politicians abandon the Clinton campaign? Hillary Clinton was a more experienced candidate. She was fighting for civil rights when Obama was still snorting coke off of white girls' asses (is it racist of me to point that out?).

Let Carter denounce this "racism" on both sides of the divide.

Why does speaking of a specific instance where racist behavior is in play have to be justified by another example of racism? In this instance, some people are acting crazy (and destroying the country in the process) because they don't like having a black president. That is the issue at hand.

The former President is not only leveling charges of racism, but ignoring evidence that by the same standards would indicate racism on the part of the President's supporters.

you're ignoring the fact that a lot of people don't like clinton anyway, regardless of her level of experience, and that the alternative in the end was john mccain.

and even if you were right, you make no distinction between black support of barack obama and the amazing destructiveness going on in the healthcare debate. you expect everybody to reach this conclusion? that is ludicrous.

your logic is all over the place, and that remark about black politicians leaving her campaign is flawed as hell because a lot of politicians, of varying race, left her campaign when it was clear that obama was going to draw more votes from all demographics. there are a number of reasons for this, i'd say that the fact that you attribute it all to race says a lot more about your prejudice than the people you're criticizing.

"In this instance, some people are acting RESPONSIBLY (and SAVING the country in the process) because they don't like having a JIHADI SYMPATHIZER / CRYPTO COMMUNIST as President. That is the issue at hand."

There, I fixed it for you.

It has nothing to do with race. NORTHERN LIBERALS are the biggest racists going. Check Boston School Bussing riots.

Why don't you read up on Daniel Patrick Moynihan on how your liberal legislation has DESTROYED the black communities in this country.

Ask any lib why they support abortion; it's to keep the nonwhite criminal population in check.

"Ask any lib why they support abortion; it's to keep the nonwhite criminal population in check."

yes, even nonwhite liberals support this, it's true.

and the war on drugs has been the most constructive undertaking this proud nation has ever set out to do.

Peter King said it best on Channel 5 this morning: it's "shameful" for Carter to inject race unnecessarily into this topic.

Suuuuurrrrreeee...
Let's just pretend that racism has nothing to do with it for any of the Teabagers...

To be clear, Not all of them are based on racism, but to completely ignore it and pretend that racism isn't the motivation for some of them is disingenuous.

there is absolutely nothing going on in the world besides race.

You race card drawers are so predictable, abundant and boring.

And you people who dismiss every discussion of racism as "pulling the race card" are probably suffering from a case of white privilege.

yes my privileges know no bounds. Also ignorant fools; those who believe being white means instant access to some awesome clubs that minorities are excluded from. Give me a damn break - no one in life has it that easy or that hard. Obama was elected in a landslide - by all the racists, right?

Carter is entitled to his opinions but he's leaned so far to the left that I doubt anyone will be moved by his remarks. Leftists who believe that racism exists under every pot lid will cheer wildly while everyone else will simply roll their eyes.

i can't wait until carter goes after that racist charlie rangel and his racist constituents...

Republicans and democrats are political opponents, they tend to say negative things about each other. All of a sudden there's a black president and everyone is shocked a republican speaks out against him. Oh no, it couldn't possibly be that a republican could do such a thing based on difference of opinion! It can only be racism!

Are there lots of racists in the south? Hell yes. But while watching the video and interviews from the 9-12 rally, I was struck by how the great majority of them had midwestern accents.

Have you ever been to the south? Or are you just assuming? You know what they say about "to assume", right?

I am from the south (born and raised) and I have to say in my experience living in TN and AL, there are a lot less racists than people think there are. No, I am not naive. Yes, I believe racism does exist, but no more in the south than in the north, mid-west, west. So let's cool it with the "everyone in the south is racist" argument. Let's all grow up, stop slinging mud and debate the facts, not the assumptions.

And the sky is blue, so what? Do you think calling them out on it is going to get them to stop being racist a-holes and start a reasonable dialog? Just look through their BS rants to see what's at the core of their zealotry, and ignore them.

Racists are stupid.
Teabaggers are stupid.
So of course, teabaggers are racists? I'd stay with 'stupid' on that one.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that Joe Wilson has shown his true colors before. In the SC Senate, he was one of seven who voted to keep the Confederate flag flying over the state capital. 36 others voted against. He said, "That's offensive to me that they would take my heritage and make it into a Holocaust era type description. I find that very offensive, and it's not true. The Southern heritage, the Confederate heritage is very honorable." Yeah, no racism in that man.

Every single flag in the western hemisphere is tainted with blood and racism. even our own stars and stripes. sheesh!

I'm HISPANIC/LATINO, brown and somewhat short and I KNOW Obama is A LIE!!!

Man I hope everything he proposes fails. It's just a continuation of the same regime. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

Shit, 900Billion for health, 800billion stimulus, billions on continous war? Oh, what about the bail outs???

He said 6 months to bring back the troops. It's almost a year!!!

THAT MAN IS NUTS!!! JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER POTUS.

AM I RACIST?

"AM I RACIST?"
I don't know, but you do seem to be Bat Shit Crazy...
Does that help?

The past 6 months has taught me; you love Obama unconditionally or you're a klan loving racist.

Um, You responded to "JLRodP" and you think *he* loves "Obama unconditionally"???

Are You Bat Shit Crazy? Feel free to scream "Race Card!!!" and ignore any criticism.

O, and to reiterate: Disagreeing with Israel's policy is not being Antisemitic *AND* To be clear, Not all of them (protesters) are based on racism, but to completely ignore it and pretend that racism isn't the motivation for some of them is disingenuous.

C'mon, cry "Race Card!!!" and ignore reality, call Pres. Carter a racist and antisemitic.

"Bush brought peace to Iraq"? Just "Wow"...

Carter is self-inflated demagogue who must be desperate for selling books...Aren't we in agreement that racism exists in the US - shocking?!? - but we have a President who BTW happens to be black that alot of white people voted that is now pushing alot of groundbreaking policies that effect each and every citizen of this nation. If white people can't speak out against the government what we have is fear of "White Mans Burden"? This wonderful groundbreaking statement is such a major distraction from what the real issues are?? And Please Former President Carter - just stay a former President...

Carter is a stand up guy. He doesn't sell his ethics and speak against atrocities despite the backlash from the corrupted murderers.

"Carter is a stand up guy. He doesn't sell his ethics and speak against atrocities despite the backlash from the corrupted murderers."

So your point is that the left wing, jihad tolerating, State supporting media won't report the FACTS that Carter swallows from the Saudis?

THANKS FOR THE CONFIRMATION.

I am non white. My mother is Mexican of Mexican native (Californian), French and Algerian descent. My father is Guatemalan of Mexican, Honduran and Basque descent.. My fiancée is Polish-German American, my older sister's husband is a white Southerner of Irish and German descent. My younger sister's husband is native American, Black, and plain ol'white. And so it goes in my entire extended family. A big family. With active members of their community in all arenas of the American fabric, from school children to soldiers, to lawyers, designers, visual artists, dancer, one doctor... And I'm a theater and film maker. When we get together it is awesome. We celebrate the differences, and the hybridizations we've created. We are American, but first we are human. And we know what hate of non-whites is. I hope there are many more families like mine that are breeding you hate filled, in-bred, racists out of existance. I love how you cowards pretend and claim not to be racist and xenophobic, when everything you stand for would rid you of the "other". If what you want is an all white nation, stand up and let yourself be counted. Go after what you want. Know that me and my family will be there to fuck you up; black to white and everything in between, you garbage.

I'm white-not in any way racist and recognize it seems so much better than most white people. It seems like it is ingrained in people and if you ask them if they are they will say no. That congressman is without any doubt in my mind, a racist. Have you seen his constituents in South Carolina? Unreal. He is a hero there for doing that. My attitude about Obama is like it is with every president. I didn't vote for him but he is the president. He has my full support. I don't care if he is yellow and green striped. If I have a problem, there are some wonderful countries I am free to move to. When that #$@hole said "you lie" in that speech, I was out of my seat screaming. I wanted that guy removed and for them to use his head to open the door. People in other countries saw that and thought "wow, I thought they had it together but you know, they are just a two-bit racist society". They really did. I've talked to a lot of people I do business with around the world and they were all surprised. Those congressional speeches always impressed them because "you have this aura there where so many can get together with your president speaking and there isn't shouting and arguments" So much for that. I want that idiot gone.

I don't care if his comments were racially motivated or not as long as his facts are accurate (and I did vote for Obama..) but if anyone really believes their lives won't change for the worse economically should either of the Democratic Party health care proposals pass, I would like to talk to them about the historic stone bridge in brooklyn that Steve Brody jumped off in the late 1800's, which I just happen to own and that I can be convinced to part with for a very reasonable price, in cash...

For the good of the country and for the betterment of race relations, Mr. Obama, sir, please step down from office.

You know, for someone who's reputed to be such an intellectual, Carter really doesn't think before he talks.

"I think it's based on racism. There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."

And yet an African-American is indeed president, voted into office by a majority of white people who, according to Carter and most of the liberal media, are secretly vile, evil, racists who just now realized that Obama is black and deeply regret voting for him.

Give me a break. Liberal racists like Carter are the scourge of this country.
