The man whom cops allegedly sodomized in a Brooklyn subway station last October says police are still on his tail. 24-year-old Michael Mineo claims he was innocently relaxing on a bench in a Canarsie playground Monday night when two squad cars arrived and arrested him. "I wasn't doing nothing," Mineo tells the Daily News. "I was just sitting on the park bench talking to a friend. They knew who I was. Of course they did." Mineo is suing the city for $220 million over the alleged sodomy, and three officers are under indictment. But the cops who arrested Mineo Monday are from a different precinct, and police spokesman Paul Brown insists that they only arrested Mineo after he refused to leave and they discovered a warrant for his arrest. Mineo's lawyer Stephen Jackson says the warrant popped because Mineo mixed up the dates on a court appearance last week and failed to certify completion of community service for a prior assault arrest. Jackson agrees that cops are targeting Mineo, telling the News, "Of course they knew who he was. I think two squad cars shows premeditation."

I am always surprised when people tell me they forgot about court or got the date wrong. Any date in court is serious... make damn sure you are there.
And why didn't his attorney remind him? Not showing up got him a warrant and arrest, in addition to how bad it looks if his civil suit goes to trial.

How does he have proof of anything? At least according to the info in the article, he was only arrested after refusing to leave somewhere he wasn't allowed to be. At that point the warrant was discovered.
Again, based on what the article says, had he walked away when they cops told him to, that would have been the end of it.

True or not, makes no difference at all once the warrant was discovered. An arrest warrant is a court order directing anyone with the authority to do so to take the person named into custody. They don't have a choice.

this law is not enforced evenly, as theres plenty of playgrounds that become lunch hour spots.
its just a way of enforcing no minorities, since thats who its usually applied to,
being used against mr. mineo was just a coincidence.
when you complete ACS theres a last court date, which is just standing around, no paperwork, no proof of completion, nothing, just another hurdle if youi paid a fine and completed service, its just that a majority of the disadvantaged have to use this actual date as a way of getting an extension on service or more time to pay the fine. the ACS court knows exactly who didnt show up at a work location daily, complete the hours or pay a fine,
(the sign in sheet is faxed to the DA office everyday)
putting out a warrant is just a gotcha.

its another no case, the city wont take it to trial since losing would mean invalidating the law (think drinking on the stoop guy) and the DA has already lost leverage, what can they do fine him $50 or offer him 2 days of community service...haha hes a millionaire!

for 2 rifles,
1 glock,
1 prop glock
1 stun gun,
1 crossbow
1 bulletproof vest
55 prescription pills,
500+ rounds of various ammo
they never found the coke, weed, oxys, or vikes.
had to go to the park at 8am, where everyone just drank beer and smoked blunts, went to mcdonalds, or just sat around discussing ways to not get caught next time.
we usually signed out at 11:30am with approval from the parks employees who were too lazy to supervise.

being certain of your rights in an illegal search.
answer no questions, laugh when threatened with jail,
refuse pleas until the DA has no choice but to go to trial and prove his flimsy case or offer a good deal.
compared to everyone else who pled guilty without good advice or justified righteous indignation.
i was there wil pill dealers, weed dealers, one guy who accepted 3 days for not wearing a shirt walking down the street, one guy who got 1 day for playing his car radio loud (he was offered 2 days in rikers), fighting in school, one kid had 30 days for stealing an ipod, another had 15 days for shooting a gun in the street drunk then posing as a police officer, one kid had 30 days for painting graffiti on a gate, another 10 days for painting a parked train, i forgot the rest...
i also used a legal aide lawyer for FREE
didnt spend a dime. he kept pushing pleas, probabtion, jail, each time getting lower and lower, thats when i realized that the secret to breaking the whole system down is fighting the case, the entire system would break down if everyone said no way jose....
