NYPD, FBI Raided Queens Homes In Terror Investigation

2009_09_nypd.jpg The NYPD confirmed that it raided Queens homes as part of a terrorism investigation—and the NYPD and FBI are briefing Congress right now. Apparently they were tracking a terror suspect; Congressman Peter King (R-Long Island) said, "He was being watched and concern grew as he met with a group of individuals in Queens over the weekend. The FBI went to court late last night for an emergency warrant to conduct the raids this morning." WCBS 2 reports that residents "say it was a blitzkrieg at about 2 a.m. at an address on 41st Avenue near 144th Street. The door to apartment 530 cannot be closed because agents had to ram it open. One of the men who lives in the apartment, who says he was not a target of the search, says he's a self-employed antique dealer." The man said, "They looking for some powder, some different things for making bombs and different things," adding he didn't know the roommates. And the Post's sources say, "The suspected terrorist, described as an ethnic Afghani resident of the Midwest in his 20s — who may have previously lived in Queens — had driven to New York City in recent days and visited multiple apartments in Queens over the weekend."

"Apparently they were tracking a terror suspect—Congressman Peter King"

Yeah, I always have had my doubts about that guy.

Ha—fixed to a semi-colon.

But really, should I be suspicious that this is happening on primary eve?

Heh. There really wasn't anything wrong with the way it was, technically, I guess. But that is the way I read it at first!

On the other point, I'd be more suspicious if it were a general election. The odds of a significant number of the 560 or so people who are going to vote in the primary tomorrow being influenced at all are pretty slim.

Sept 11th 2001 was a primary day. Terrorists get extra satisfaction from disrupting the democratic process. Perhaps the cops thought they might strike tomorrow and decided to move in before they had a chance. Entirely plausible in any case.

"Sept 11th 2001 was a primary day."

It was, but there's never been any concrete reason to think of that as anything but a coincidence.

Just like 911 has a certain relationship to 911?

I don't think Bin Laden gives a crap about crummy local elections, but many of his followers are extremely dumb, so who knows.

"Peter King...'blitzkrieg'...Queens" ? This story practically writes itself.

I dont know....since when does a Nassau County (corrupt) congressman announce arrests for terrorists. He was on ABC nightly news as well. If this had a shred of credibility, a terror arrest in New York City would be announced at least by the police chief, w/ the usual bloodsuckers crammed on stage behind him vying for camera.
Its a stunt, and two weeks from now, in a tiny article on page 16, they will announce that no charges have been filed.

The NYPD announced it before King did.

King still thinks W is the President.

It's frightening to be surrounded by so many fake terrorists. They're in my deli right now making coffee.

So Rep. King called this one in? What a joke! The strings are being pulled by Democrats (and their special interest groups) these days.

Usama bin Laden addressed the American people on the eighth anniversary of 9/11 in an audio message... His speech, titled, “Message to the American People,” explains in the part the cause of al-Qaeda’s attacks in New York and Washington on September 11, 2001, and advises how the conflict between al-Qaeda and the US may come to an end.

You would think this kind of thing would make the news, yet most of the American press has decided this isn't really anything Interesting, and definitely wouldn't promote their agenda.
