Shake Shack Expanding to Nolita

090909shakeshack.jpg After announcing last week that Shake Shack would be opening new outposts in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, The Union Square Hospitality Group has now brought tremendous joy to the exotic land south of Houston. According to a press release, the newest Shake Shack will be located at 47 Prince Street, on the northwest corner of Mulberry & Prince Streets—by far their furthest location downtown. Shake Shack impresario Danny Meyer exults, "We’re ecstatic to have found this one-of-a kind downtown location in the Nolita neighborhood—just steps away from the heart of SoHo. Shake Shack is thrilled to make its home in this bustling, vibrant community that attracts throngs of people—New Yorkers and tourists alike—on a daily basis." It's unclear exactly when this bad boy will be open for business, but we're told it'll be built as a stand-alone building on a long vacant lot—where lines are probably forming as you read this.

I guess it really doesn't take a lot to make you happy.

I guess it takes a lot to make you happy

Not really, but it does take more than a hamburger stand.

I think alot of people are going to be happy!

I hope the building looks cool... old-school diner-style or something.

overrated.

NYC: "Oh look there's a long line, let's go stand in it! whatever it is must be GREAT!"

Northeast corner of Mulberry and Prince, which is (or was last week) a parking lot, right?

Supa! Ya got your Delicatessen on one corner, your Fluevog, your Shakeshack, and, um, Ole St. Patricks! Mark my words, one day Falai will market itself as the last bit of "Little Italy".

shake shack is tasty, but nothing is worth waiting in line for. their burgers arent exactly rocket science either. make your own - there are short lines at the supermarket.

in an emergency, goodburger is an acceptable substitute.

It's just another decent burger for tourists and hipsters

Many naifs, when they see others lined up, assume the food is first class. Like the lines nearby at the tiny but only decent Tomoe Sushi. Because of its size people must wait to get it, Others see a line and assume the food is worth the wait. It ain't!

With such a Nation of Sheep, I am surprised Shake Shack doesn't try muttonburgers.

Went to shake shack last week and was super excited to finally try it. I ended up ordering nearly everything on the menu (variations of burgers and hotdogs) minus the shakes. I gotta say, it was retarded greasy. I've had better burgers at In n Out. It wasn't worth waiting on line for.

Corner Bistro and Burger Joint rules!

Ditto! I had In & Out in Vegas & no lines. At Shake Shack the milkshake costs more than the burgers!! Corner Bistro is one of the bestest burgers & skinny fries plus way cheaper; you are getting me hungry :)

Great, just another thing to bring the neighborhood down.

Bad idea. Prince Street is ridiculously crowded, especially on weekends. This is not a good matchup with their long lines. If they want to be downtown, just about any other location would have been better.

The Madison Square Park location works because, if its a nice day, you don't mind standing in line. You are in a park, after all. I agree with the other commentators that the burgers are good but not quite worth standing in line for.
