Report: DJ AM Took 9 Oxycontin Pills Before Death

2009_08_djam10.jpg According to People.com, an autopsy shows that celebrity DJ Adam Goldstein had eight Oxycontin pills in his stomach and one in his mouth—a source said, "He wanted to die. He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn't even swallow it." A Valentine from his ex-girlfriend Hayley Wood was allegedly found near him (though she denies they broke up); a bag of crack was also reportedly near his body, which was found in his Soho apartment. TMZ reports that Goldstein's funeral was scheduled for today. Additionally, his mother was made the special administrator of his estate (he did not have a will), allowing her to sell his home in LA (there was an offer on it) and settle lawsuits related to the 2008 plane crash he survived. The site adds that documents showed his "annual income from property at $3.5 million, plus an additional $400,000 in assets. The docs list his debts at $2.9 million."

Just God's way of reminding you American War Criminal MF's that you CAN'T take it with you.

Why is this story news any longer? He is more famous in death than in life.

As I sit, pecking at my keyboard, working on "Pharmacology for Dummies". These untalented entitled just don't get it, do they. "Sometimes a man's just gotta know his limitations". Don't know who the hell he is, don't care, won't miss him, bye bye, you overdosed, you're gone, you're forgotten even by people who knew who you were. Next...

Maybe it was just the fact that he has to go to Newark airport for his flight.

Who wouldn't rather kill themselves than go to New Jersey?

Yet another Jersey joke fail for MrManhattan.
At some point, you can't tie every damn thing into your obsession with NJ.
It's becoming a pattern.

Is there a server fail at ArmpitOfAmericaist.com?

Why not post there?

The second time you have used that stale joke.............
It has yet to work.

Oops, forgot, there aren't enough people in New Jersey to populate a blog. Since it requires typin' and spellin' and all that.

It must be sad to be marginally literate yet live with the hillbillies.

no name, hipster piece of crap, or whatever - he is dead. and because he is dead i feel sad. mental illness/addiction is a real bitch - you can say whatever you want about how good he had it, etc., but you have no idea the pain or whatever this dude was going through - money or not. in the big picture dj am is meaningless but to be cruel for your own ego/worth's sake is gross and calls attention to your small penis and the fact you have no friends. xx honk honk

Its a damn shame. Yeah. I'm pretty tough, but I've never been in a PLANE CRASH! Whatever this kid was feeling was REAL. I have never felt it, but I dont know if that makes me lucky or not. This guy had a legitimate reason to become dependent on pain meds. Severe burns are not to be confused with a root canal or sciatica. Burn pain will make the strongest man beg for morphine.

Maybe this guy was only famous because he knew certain people. Who cares. It's a news story and it sells copies of US weekly and drives internet traffic, therefore you're going to continue hearing about it. GET OVER IT. I've never heard the word hipster more than I have after moving to NYC 2 yrs ago. It's almost like a derogatory term used in place of #ucker or #itch. Hipster this hipster that. GET OVER IT. If people like tight jeans or have questionable musical tastes, again GET OVER IT. You're probably balding and have a problem with everything.

I know someone on oxycontin for a serious debilitating condition, and those meds are not to be messed with. He definitely needs the pain meds, but has overdosed twice and ended up at a mental hospital for two months as a result.

These types of meds are hard to control; typically, to get the prescription filled/re-filled, you're required to see a pain specialist once every month or two; however, from my experience of accompanying him, the doctor tries to get patients in and out as quickly as possible, doing the minimum to get paid and cover himself liability wise.

This may not be the same for all doctors, but in general, I think we dispense these types of drugs too easily without enough oversight. This DJ guy may have killed himself anyway, but I doubt having cloudy judgment from meds helped.
