Video: Rachel Maddow Discusses Bout With Swine Flu

2009_08_maddowfal.jpg Recently, viewers of The Rachel Maddow Show have noticed that Rachel Maddow has been out, due to the flu. And last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, she revealed she had the swine flu! (She's one of those 1 in 10 New Yorkers!)

After Fallon gave her some hand sanitizer, Maddow explained she spent her week watching I, Claudius and reading graphic novels about Sarajevo and Palestine. And she was required to wear a mask when she went the hospital! Below, Maddow describes swine flu, the health care debate, and going to the shooting range—and after the jump, Maddow mixes Fallon a cocktail—the White Lady.

Olberman might be just as partisan as O'Reilly, and just as full of himself, but there is a critical difference between them:

Olberman doesn't lie and use extremely distorting editing to back up his arguments.

She looks more manly than Jimmy Fallon. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    rachel who?

I love her too, but thank The Lord Jesus I don't have to see her interact with Jimmy Fallon every night. He's worse than Chevy Chase was.

I love Rachel Maddow! I'm married to a man, but damn I'm gay for Rachel.

    Agreed.

I consider myself very conservative, and really enjoy Maddow and her show. I liked her when she was on Tucker Carlson's show and her guest hits on other shows. Her radio show was a decent listen, too. She actually lets her guests speak and always brings up good points/arguments without any puffery for the liberal guests or condemnation for her conservative guests.

    Olbermann on the other hand...

As much as that guy thinks he's better than O'Reilly, the two of them are really just one in the same.

I DVRd Fallon last night (odd, right?) to see her. Can't wait to watch after work today.

That's funny, I'm pretty liberal and I can't stand her. Far too smug for my tastes.
