A reader just sent us this picture—showing a truck apparently stuck at an angle— at the Verrazano Narrows Bridge toll plaza with the prediction, "The Verrazano is gonna be backed up."

FIRST!
FAIL!
Those truck drivers *never* slow down when they are approaching the toll plaza! I drive across every single morning for work and I can't tell you how many times I've almost been hit by them trying to make a last ditch effort to get to the left most side to get to the upper level!
Trucks kill! So do run on sentences. =0)
But seriously...they need to slow down.
Tpoh2 makes a very good point. The fact that trucks are only allowed on the upper level of the makes for some totally kamikaze maneuvers. They don't realize until the last second they need to get over the left and they literally veer across six lanes of traffic to get there.
Ah. A fellow Staten Islander?
Its terrifying to see any vehicle try and drive across those 6 lanes, let alone a 18 wheeler full of Godknowshwat.
Sorry for the crappy iPhone photo. The driver is pinned. ESU and FDNY are on scene extricating.
Owwww.....
The driver only sustained minor injuries fortunately.
so does that buy him a free crossing since it is illegal to back up?
The driver is out of the vehicle and en route to SIUH north.
Are you hanging out there to see how this ends or do you work there?
looks as though this delivery will be late!
aren't there height restrictions listed above?
I don't think he was too high, it looks like he ran up over the divider.
i dont think it was a mater of height. it looks like he hopped up on the concrete divider then side ways throught the booth.
Just how fast was he going? I'll bet he was high.
I opened this thread thinking "finally, something that people can't possibly be outraged by."
. . .
