Since GMail and its Apps For Domain are both down, we recommend you go get a coffee or take a walk around the block so you don't drive yourself crazy with how annoying it is. (According to the Google Mail Status page, "We're aware of a problem with Google Mail affecting a majority of users. The affected users are unable to access Google Mail. We will provide an update by September 1, 2009 4:53:00 PM UTC-4 detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change.") Or you can look at this TechCrunch post about the downtime and enjoy the back and forth comments about how Google blew it and how people should stop their bitching because it's a free service.

VIRUS! FIRST!!!!!ELKELKJasdj;dsf
NOOOOOOOO!
Google is not a free service. You don't pay in cash, you pay with your information, the real currency of our times.
Good point!
So don't use it. I however will, which will allow their search engine to provide me more accurate results fractions of a second quicker. If I stop commenting on Gothamist, I guess it means Google stole my identity, kidnapped my family, slaughtered us all, and burned our remains to power the alternative energy that their server farms run on.
I'm not suggesting that anyone stop using it, only that the argument that "people should stop their bitching because it's a free service" is bullshit.
Outside? That's a myth.
How many babies will be born during the big Gmail blackout?
Hey baby, i've got a 502 error for you RIGHT HERE!
9/1/09: never forget
Revised headline: Massive GMail Crash—Distract Yourself and Read Gothamist!
WHY have you forsaken me!?
Is it back yet?
How about now?
Now?
Hmm...it just came up then went right back down. I'm very curious what issue they're having over there.
Not only that, they've taken "Gmail" off of the trending topics on Twitter. I guess they were afraid of crashing their servers with everyone doing that particular search...
You want to solve the world's problems...how about fixing your email-joint.
You can access your Gmail if you're set up for IMAP or POP3. I'm getting my Gmail through Apple's Mail program using IMAP without any problem.
shite. still down!
Mine is back! Of course, I have no new emails, since almost everyone I know also uses Gmail :-p
Back, baby, back!
It looks like it's finally back to normal. Whew! I almost when into withdrawal.
Is there a difference between Gmail through Google Apps and just plain Gmail? Mine never went down.
Finally. A day without death threats :)
