Jumper On Brooklyn Bridge—Crowd Tells Him Not To Jump

A reader sends us these pictures from the Brooklyn Bridge and says, "Police are trying to talk him down. Crowd on bridge yelling for him not to jump." The jumper is at about mid-span.

Update: Looks like the police and crowd were successful: We hear that the man was talked down and is now in police custody.

they should just tell him he's going to end up messy.. and he might survive, which will be even worse.

I've always wondered about how frequent this is. The Brooklyn Bridge isn't nearly as high as the Golden Gate right? So it's much more likely you'll survive the fall.

On my lazy Sunday morning, I caught 'Definitely, Maybe' on a HBO channel. My remote was stuck or something so I watched it.

"Did you know that 35 people try to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge each year, most because of broken hearts?"

-Abigail Breslin's character

Goddammit, I just read on huffpost that male baby chicks are "instantaneously euthanized" by being ground up alive in a grinder.

This guy should jump, and the human race should follow him.

I found that out in a food science class years ago and haven't touched poultry since. Nasty business.

Not eating poultry at all seems like an overreaction. When I found out, I just stopped eating ground baby chick burgers.

But the nuggets are still good, right?

I guess he heard GMAIL was back up...whew.

Let him jump, maybe he thinks he is Superman:)

Glad it had a happy ending.

Sign #32421412353214 that the internet is crazy. This post.

damn attention whore, someone should of shove him over.

Really, right on time for rush hour traffic, no consideration for others :)

No smug commentator here knows one day that they
will not be in the same situation.
I hope this sad man finds comfort to continue this life.

NYPD: "We're so glad you decided not to jump. Now, we're going to take you back to the police station, beat you senseless and put you in jail for 10-12 years on trumped up 'terrorism' charges and for wasting our time. Every life is precious!"

Wow. Is anyone else bothered by this Daniel Albanese person taking pictures of someone about to end their life? What an asshole.

I actually am bothered because its not a video about someone about to end their life.
