Max the Hero Dog Saves Elderly Neighbor

This is Max!
Who doesn't love a good heroic dog story? Word is that a concerned canine named Max saved an 89-year-old woman in Little Neck last Friday. The pup, who is a neighbor's dog, made a ruckus after finding Tina DiLuca face-first in her garden on a 90-degree-day. His barking caused Maria DiLuca, her daughter, to rush outside. She said, “We live next door to Max and we’re used to hearing him bark. But he didn’t sound right. I looked out the window and I saw my mother laying there. She’s lucky she fell in the dirt and not the concrete.” Currently the 89-year-old woman is recovering from four fractured ribs and a few abrasions in the hospital, and is expected to stay there for a few weeks. Hopefully Max is getting some extra treats and belly scratches at home.

So i'm just curious, what actually happened that took the old lady down? I mean fractured ribs and all, sounds like she was attacked?

Being old ( 89 ) kinda sucks. Your bones become very weak. A fall means broken bones usually. It's not unsurprising injuries for a woman of that age to suffer just from a fall.

I love the caption "This is Max!"

Too bad Max is too big for public housing. If his owner ever falls on hard times and needs to move into public housing Max would most likely end up in the city shelter along with all the other good dogs who are being abandoned because of the narrow-minded and ill-conceived pet policy of the New York City Housing Authority.

I love cats and have one but when it comes to saving lives, showing bravery against all odds doggies rule. They rock - Once again - yay for Max - he deserves all the love he can handle :-) I also want to wish Tina a speedy recovery and kudos to her daughter Maria for paying such attention to detail that she could tell something was off.

Yet another story proving that dogs are far superior to cats!

Um, I agree that Max is a very good boy, but there are tons of examples of cats saving lives available on the Internets. Here are but a few:

Whose a good boy? Max is a good boy.

  • Indeed. And Max looks like a yellow Lab. Yellow Labs FTW.

    EEES A GOOD BOY!

    Who's a good doggy?

  • Thespis

I don't know. I think he might have knocked down the old woman, taken her wallet, and then told her that if she ever told anyone he'd have some mean-lookin' Rottweilers give her a "Brooklyn slobber." Then all he has to do is alert the humans, so that it looks like he's the good guy. Next thing you know he's on Leno and Letterman -- while secretly planning his next old-lady-mugging, and spending the stolen money on Milk Bones and black tar heroin.

I tell you, Labs are smart. And evil.

    Rofl @ snoopy!!!

  • Snoopy

Good boy Max. He doesn't look like a puppy to me.

  • Mr Mel

You're right, he has a little mileage on him, but he got it done. I had 3 Labs over the years and they were the best and the brightest.

  • Snoopy

I agree. Much better than those snappy little pugly shits that get bitten by larger dogs when they are off the leash.

    Yay for Max!
