Kidnapper Gets 10 Years After Victim Tells Him Off

2009_06_heroph.jpg A 21-year-old Brooklyn man convicted of kidnapping a young girl was sentenced today to 10 years in prison despite his pleas for "mercy and leniency." Bernard Mutterperl wept before a judge, pleading that he needed help "outside of jail" as punishment for the Mother's Day 2007 incident in Midwood where he followed Xochil Garcia home and grabbed the girl, who was then 11. But the judge fell on the more stringent side of sentencing that could have fallen anywhere from 3 1/2 to 15 years. Garcia, now 13, testified at the trial this spring and spoke again in court today, recounting how she has suffered panic attacks and feared going out alone. She looked at Mutterperl and said, "You messed up my life. Some people want to fight me for no reason. Some people want to be my friend so they can be on TV ... I do not have any real friends now because of this."

    From the Post:

"What I did on Mother's Day was never going to hurt Ms. Garcia, her family or anyone else," said Mutterperl.

Right.... so what exactly was he planning to do to the girl? I hope that piece of trash has fun in prison.

  • So he's a liar, too--plus two years.

  • The Man Bat

So this kid sends a dude upriver for 10 big ones because she has trouble making friends!?!?

Hey, welcome to the real world honey.

  • The Edge

Wow.. you're ingloriously retarded, aren't you.

Does the title of this entry make sense to anyone? Who is the "him" and who's the teen and if the teen told the kidnapper why did he get jailed? Did the teen tell the cops? The kidnapper tell the cops? Did the teen tell the kidnapper because the kidnapper didn't know? IDK?!?!

  • style crusader

nope, the title makes no sense.

  • imnotbenjamin

The "him" is the kidnapper. If you read the article, you see that the girl told him what he'd done to her. Now read the title again. It makes perfect sense.

  • Rocknrope

The point of a title is so that you understand it before reading the article.

If "teen" were changed to "victim," it would have read much better.

Bernie Bernie Bernie. How could you be that stupid? Perhaps castration is the best for him. Then glue it on his nose so he remembers every morning when he goes to comb his hair.

10 years is not enough for scum like this. Inflicting damage of this sort on a child is reprehensible.
