Bloomberg Campaign Pestering Their Way to More Votes

2009_01_bloombaby2.jpg Mayor Bloomberg's expansive and record-spending campaign for a third term must be doing its job effectively with the latest poll showing his lead expanding—but damn it if it isn't driving New Yorkers c-razy! The latest Quinnipiac poll shows that 78 percent of New Yorkers have seen the mayor's ads (20% more than last month!), but almost half find them to be "annoying," more than those who see them as "informative." Today's Times has a front page article about Bloomberg's reelection bid being "most meticulous campaign in New York City’s history." The paper goes inside headquarters to find workers "condensing and cataloging (voters) into tiny data points" with workers on hand who speak Farsi and Tagalog among the many languages they cover. Also: "His field team is so persistent that, when volunteers call to solicit voters’ support, some report that they have already been called by the campaign — three times." Despite a Quinnipiac pollster saying "Mayor Mike might be wasting his money on that zillion-dollar TV buy," Bloomberg stretched his lead over Bill Thompson to 50-35%, a five point gain from last month. Maybe people secretly love picturing a Mr. Feeny-like Bloomberg as he's depicted in the spot after the jump.

He's got my vote, for sure.

it saddens me to see the slideshow of young volunteers.
if they only knew the real world. yes, I said it. the REAL world. the man with the GOLD makes the RULES.

What about the JOBS Mayor MIke????? When you see the rooftops in Brooklyn-what about solar panels????? That failed. Onto this campaign to improve the MTA!!!! WOW. You have got some pair to even imply you could do shit there too... However, people will re elect you, because pollsters suggest they should.

I hear it, from the streets to the rooftops,
green jobs for every one.

Jobs? The nations unemployment rate is at 20 yr lows and you're pitting this on Bloomberg? In the midst of a global economic collapse where NYC is the center of the financial universe you pin it on Bloomberg? Gosh.

the baby he's holding should be ready to vote in time for his 7th term.

Personally I can't stand the onslaught of junk mail and treacly ads. I wouldn't vote for him in a million years.

So you'll have a change of heart in time for his 250,003rd term?

Mike Bloomberg: Mediocre Bureaucrat, Corporate Fascist.

917-000-0000 on my caller id 27 times in the past week.

yes, they call you on cells.
either 917-000-0000 or 917-111-1111

My personal favorite Bloomberg campaign video is his astoundingly bad "Spanish" language ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kOMp-KudSA Cracks me up everytime!
