Giuliani Totally Considering Being NY's Next Love Gov

2009_08_giuli.jpg Finally! After nearly a year and a half of speculation, former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani is considering to run for Governor of New York. Now that the top ranks of the NY State Republican party are shuffling, the NY Times reports, "Mr. Giuliani has told associates that he will decide on a candidacy within 30 to 60 days, as he weighs whether he can be elected statewide and what impact another campaign would have on his business interests." Rudy's had talks with various Republicans in state, Democrat- turned-Republican- turned-independent Mayor Bloomberg and Rep. Peter King (R-Long Island)—King told the Times, "Several times, he said to me that he sees state government similar to where New York City was in 1993: out of control. So many people are saying the state can’t be governed, which is what everyone was saying about the city then. In Rudy’s mind, this is a challenge."

Can anyone win public office after a nasty second divorce and the fact his adult children publicly said they wouldn't vote for him, regardless of his or her policies?

His very poor showing in the Florida Republican primaries last year would indicate he's long past the point of winning.

Maybe he should just put together a 9/11 tribute band and start playing in casinos.

after all his crazy, right-wing brown-nosing - any respect i had for this man is totally gone. which wasn't much to begin with, but still.

and after watching how terribly he ran his presidential campaign, i actually think cuomo will have an easy time. no matter how many times he talks about 9/11.

Giuliani will run because the GOP has nothing else. A ham sandwich would fare better than their other candidates. Here are the numbers in current polling:

Rudy Giuliani has an easy lead over former Congressman Rick Lazio and Erie County Executive Christopher Collins (73%, with 8% for Collins and 6% for Lazio). In the general election, Cuomo has a sizeable lead over Giuliani (53-40), and absolutely lays waste to Lazio (66-16). Paterson, meanwhile, actually has a lead over Lazio (38-37), but loses handily to Giuliani (56-33).

Chris Collins would actually make a tight candidate for the other side. GOPers need to quit trying to flog the marquee has-beens and pump up the bench.

    9/11! 9/11! 9/11!

Get used to hearing that on the campaign trail again.

Yeah -- Cuomo The 2nd will be SO much better for the state.

Maybe he will die of cancer before the election.

The only challenge will be to actually get Rudy to campaign while he supposedly runs for governor.

  • JW

Obviously, his business interests are far more important to him if he has to base a decision on that...

Please please go away Rudy. I don't want to hear anymore about 9/11 and what a stud you supposedly were...

As simple and definitive yes or no will do.
