Bureau Of Prisons: Post's Madoff Cancer Report Inaccurate

2009_07_madoffwo.jpg Today, the NY Post reported that Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff was "dying of cancer"—according to its sources. And now the federal Bureau of Prisons says the Post's sources are wrong, with a spokeswoman saying, "While the NY Post story is full of inaccuracies, and we can’t specifically address all of them, we can tell you that Bernie Madoff is not terminally ill, and has not been diagnosed with cancer.." However, the Wall Street Journal's Law Blog spoke with a source "familiar with the situation...who reiterated that Madoff does, in fact, have a 'serious' form of cancer, though the source could not confirm that it was life threatening." Of course, the WSJ and Post are both owned by News Corp., so who knows? And now we are left to wonder if the BOP's statement is also referring to Madoff befriending the Native American inmates and visiting the sweat lodge shirtless and hanging out with the "homosexual posse."

So they're setting the table and warming the beach chair for Bernie's "exile" to the beach at Tel Aviv due to reasons humanitarian. What a surprise...

One of the side effects of this cancer is that it causes you to steal $50 billion from unsuspecting rich people. Madoff's new defense is that the cancer did it, not him.

Actually Vivane Delgado overhead Federal prison guard bellow out anti-semitic remarks and didn't realize "cancer" was one of the expletives and not the diagnosis.

  • Dwayne Hoover

And I'm definitely wondering whether there really exists a "Sweat Lodge" at the federal prison.

  • Dwayne Hoover

I'm still waiting for the NYPost to reveal Viane Delgado, another one of their 'star' sources.

Poor schmuck is already bored in prison making up lies to pass the tine.

  • felixthecat2

as stated in earlier post, I highly doubt the Madoff-Cancer Story. Way to go NY POST

If it wasn't for the New York Post where would the Gothamist get its news?

It's the standard that New York City citizens have come to learn about the goings on and the truth in reporting what those going ons mean to the average New Yorker.

Look at the great story they did about carriage horses.

  • felixthecat2

I read the NY Post to learn their agenda. I am not a Paterso's fan but it is obvious the NY Post has devoted its paper to take down Paterson to ensure a Guiliani run and victory. I am not sure what story they did on the carriage horses? are you joking? Do you have link?

He's only married to a terminal cancer.

  • GaryK

if he is not dying of cancer can we plesae give it to him so he can die a painful & lonely death in prison? i would even donate a video camera so his wife and children can watch his agony 24/7.

  • jaycjay

Ah, he's pulling the Hipster Grifter thing in prison!

  • DanielJ

Ah. So he may or may not have a serious form of cancer, which may or may not be life threatening.

Just let the man rot, I'd rather not hear anything about him until he dies and is buried in the prison potter's field.
