2009_08_soutst.jpg Early this morning, a fight turned deadly and one man was fatally shot at the South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m.—the AP reports, "Police say an argument escalated into bottle-throwing and gunshots... A 31-year-old man was shot in the head and died at the scene... Police couldn't immediately say how many people were involved or what they were doing at the complex. Much of it closes at 9 p.m. on Fridays, though eateries and bars are open later." Flag on the play. Unnecessary escalation.
Seriously, this why we can't have nice things. Because some asshole has to bring a gun and bottles to a bullshit bar fight.

The South Street Seaport bar scene is the same as the Chelsea Discos, dangerous.

I was in the area when the shooting occurred. About 20 cop cars came within a half hour of the shooting

I knew the victim..He was a cool guy- I feel so bad for his fam and friends. Im in such awe, and I hope the people who know, speak up...There can be justice to this story...Its so sad he was young, no children, and could have had such a wonderful life.

Ive been to one of these boat rides, he used to throw them frequently, you know somebody gotta act stupid- but nothing like this...

Shifty Seaport, can't wait till they redo everything.
