Lynde's alleged cat killing began last October when a cat named Cleo was found dead behind a dryer with her mouth full of laundry detergent, while Zoe was found badly beaten and later had to be euthanized, according to the ASPCA.Lynde's girfriend went out and adopted two kittens named Willie and Betty. The next month, she came home to discover Willie was having trouble walking. Then, a couple nights later, she came home to find Betty dead. "Mr. Lynde states that she fell from a countertop to the floor and stopped breathing," said [ASPCA special agent] Pentangelo.
Still not suspecting Lynde, the girlfriend adopted two more kittens named Emo and Bonafide. Bonafide was found dead with a broken neck. And when Emo vanished, Lynde allegedly told his girlfriend the kitty ran away.
Lynde apparently moved out in December and the ASPCA was tipped off by someone who was concerned about the girlfriend's cats dying.
On Lynde's website, he says one of the things he likes to do is "spending time on The Lake in Maine with my wonderful family and two of the most lovable dogs you could ever meet." Lynde was also charged with stalking and harassment—he allegedly punched his ex-girlfriend's computer.

I consider myself as an occasional or "opportunistic" animal abuser but this goes over the line. When I got rid of my wife I kept her dog. Not because I liked it very much but because it can be a stress reliever at times. It's amazing the dog still wags its tail and gets all excited when I come home. Just a dumb animal.

i have personal knowledge of this situation and know for a fact that the ex-girlfriend is falsifying all these charges as a revenge tactic. the aspca has no evidence of anything other than the word of an angry, psychotic ex. don't assume that just because someone is accused of something that the post or daily news tries to sensationalize, that the accusations are automatically true. as the facts come out, this will be proven to be nothing but slanderous lies.

I would love to hear your arguments presented and the evidence that you know that the ex is falsifying the charges and this is little more than revenge.
While the ASPCA may be leading the case because of the animal nature, this is a matter of the NY Police Department and the District Attorney's Office. This is not some small town where someone walks into the local police station and all of the sudden someone is in jail.
This is NYC. The big time. And since Sean Lynde was charged with a felony, it must have gone to a Grand Jury proceeding where the case was presented by the DA, not by the ASPCA. And if you're going before the Grand Jury in NYC....well....that's the major leagues of crime fighting.
Unfortunately, your logic is flawed in thinking that this is a simple case of "he said" / "she said." Like everything, if the DA had ANY inkling that they wouldn't have a GREAT shot at a conviction, the DA never would have taken the case. Especially with the publicity involved....there is no way the NYC DA's office would risk looking bad or made a fool of.
That leads us to the conclusion.
The DA's office MUST have some good stuff on Mr. Lynde. Really good stuff. While Mr. Lynde does deserve his day in court, I don't believe for a second that this is a case of "slanderous lies" as you put it. I get it...you're emotional and want to help out your friend.
But let's face the facts.
The NYPD are bad ass & if they think they're being lied to, they would drop this in a second. It is NOT easy for someone to walk into the Police station and cry wolf. On the contrary....my first guess is that the NYPD would cast this aside unless there was enough evidence to go to trial & the DA thinks they can put Sean Lynde behind bars for the horrible crimes he's accused of.
Lies are a dime a dozen, evidence will help present the truth. We're not talking little misdemeanors here my friend....these are Felonies. To say the police and DA would not go forward on this if her allegations were fabricated has been belied belied countless times in this city and country. In fact, when a woman makes a claim of cruelty or violence, police and prosecutors are compelled politically to charge first and ask questions later.
There was in fact a case this very week where a man is being released from prison after years of false incarceration based solely on the perjured testimony of a spiteful ex-girlfriend.
Personally, I know several people who were charged with baseless crimes based on false testimony by either jealous, crazed, or otherwise prejudiced individuals.
Also, Velmonk has no real reason to create this story.
Thankfully, our the Founding Fathers in their wisdom have instilled in our laws the presumption of innocent, lest the innocent get a new Salem Witch trial in the pandemonium of rumor mongerers and gossips and knee-jerk hangmen.

Actually it's likely the NYPD had no involvement in the case at all. The ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Division is a police agency staffed by armed, accredited, and sworn NYS peace officers. They can make arrests, do car stops, serve warrants, or anything else an NYPD officer can do. Unless its for backup (there are only something like 14 ASPCA officers in NYC), NYPD doesn't normally handle animal abuse cases.

Your presumption, while maybe true, that allegations are sometimes proven false is what I would to describe in argument land, as a "soup sandwich." It can be proven & unproven countless times. Take one side of your argument, and it sounds valid. However, one false story does not make an argument true.
When anyone, women or men, makes a claim of cruelty or violence, the immediate step is called an "investigation." An investigation is where the police and the DA's office determine if there is merit in the claim.
I do make the presumption that the NYPD's BS meter is set on HIGH most of the time and that if they had any doubts, this never would have reached this point. I'm sure that the ASPCA & DA's office have done their homework.
As overworked as I imagine the DA's office is (this being NYC and all), one does set one up for failure. Just as the Yankees wouldn't send the batboy up to face Papelbon, I seriously doubt that the DA would press forth for a Grand Jury indictment (that is necessary for all felony charges), if they didn't think they had a shot at winning.
Simple is often the best approach and while you may have problems with basic logic & basis of real arguments, it sounds like you do not understand much about how the justice system really works. I would suggest reading up before your next post to see how difficult it actually is to go before a grand jury of your peers. The process is well documented if you are familiar with the legal system (or are a lawyer....ahem....ahem).
As for poor old Velmonk, I totally understand why he would stick up for his friend and I do applaud his loyalty. I may question his choices in friends, but there is always the chance that Mr. Lynde hasn't been as forthcoming with his story as you may think he is.

I would love to explain everything i know about this here but i can't do that for the same reason sean can't go to the media and explain everything. it just has to be done in court and it's not my position to undermine that. However, you are just dead wrong about how easy or difficult it is to get someone arrested in NYC. His previous arrest came about solely because the ex went to a police precinct and told them that sean broke her laptop on purpose (also a total lie). that was all it took for them to arrest him and charge him. this is the same situation. it's a culmination of a campaign of lies and harassment from her that's been going on for months. that's part of the problem here is that everyone assumes that if they're making an arrest they must know that he did it, when that couldn't be further from the truth. and you're right, if i were him i'd be very worried right now too. not only because everyone has already treated him as though he was convicted, but because there are a slew of examples of people being wrongly imprisoned based on the false testimony of a sympathetic accuser.
look, i won't get into details but i will just say that none of this is as it's been presented. it's so easy for someone to go to the police and make accusations and get someone arrested. all it takes is the willingness to lie. and once you get someone accused (note that there has been zero evidence besides the ex's statements) everyone jumps on message boards wanting their head. do you all really have such faith in our legal system to assume that anyone the police arrest is guilty?
