2 Survive Small Plane Crash Near Teterboro Airport

2009_08_tetercrash.jpg A small plane, approaching Teterboro Airport, crashed right by NJ's Route 46 around 3 a.m. this morning. MyFoxNY reports, "Port Authority officials say the pilot and co-pilot walked away from the scene. No one else was aboard the plane. One man was airlifted to St. Barnabas Medical Center with serious burns and the other was taken by ground to Hackensack Medical Center." According to witnesses, the plane, which had been carrying medical supplies, apparently overshot the airport and landed in a field by Route 46. The Star-Ledger says witnesses saw a fireball. The men were able to crawl out of the plane and walk over to a bus stop, where they sat on a curb. One responding officer said, "The one who had more burns sat there and was in a daze. I saw the wreckage, they both said 'We were in the plane.' I was a little taken back, you know."

hmmmm... Teterboro again...

They need to rename this airport to Teterborooooh.

I don't buy into the notion of hexes and curses, but the Kennedy clan and Teterboro Airport make me wonder.

The pilot and maintenance requirements for small planes really should be more stringent. For that matter, should probably be more stringent for the big planes too...

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Aviation sets the standard in taking something potentially very dangerous and making it as safe, organized, and reliable as it possibly can be. Obsessive use of checklists, redundant systems, and strict regulations are exemplary practices that other industries should take note of.

this is becoming an epidemic. they need to start installing eject buttons just like the movies -- floating you safely back to earth in the comfort of your parachuted seat.

Why is every tiny plane crash that takes place anywhere considered to be news? At least this one was local. I hate when CNN breaks into its programming to report on a single engine plane crash in Utah that killed one person.

we should ban air travel. it's dangerous.

"3 a.m. this morning"
Redundancy.
Either use 3 a.m. or 3 this morning. Not both, as you're repeating yourself.

Have you been suffering from OCD for long, BongoBoy?
