Hot And Humid For Rest of Week

That was one hellacious storm that blasted through the city last night. The worst hit areas were the Upper West Side and Central Park. The rain gauge at Belvedere Castle was on the edge of the storm and recorded .64 inches of rain in just a few minutes. To our semi-trained eye it looked like at least double that amount fell on 116th Street in Harlem.

An approaching cold front and lots of heat and humidty mean there's another chance of showers and thunderstorms starting this afternoon. Today will also come close to being the fourth straight 90-degree day! The weak cold front looks as if it will reverse directions and return tomorrow as a warm front. We can expect extremely soupy conditions tomorrow and Friday. Showers and thunderstorms are likely both days.

The timing is still uncertain but a stronger cold front is expected to arrive sometime on Saturday. Cooler and much drier air should arrive behind the front to bring a beautiful Sunday. High pressure behind the front should help keep Hurricane Bill well offshore.
