Is it too early to start a "Bring Starbury Back to New York" campaign? Say what you will about how he basically spent his tenure with the Knicks acting as a cancer to the team; the man knows how to make a quality YouTube clip. From our previous experience with putting a camera in front of Stephon Marbury, we knew that there had to be a few gems coming out of the former All-Star's 24-hour stint doing a video podcast a couple weeks back. It may have taken a little tinkering, but sure enough a little dance interlude taken by Steph led to this:
And while many of the YouTube commenters are eager to insist that Marbury was not originally dancing to the late '90s Aqua classic, at least one NBA player took the bait and offered up his feelings on it. Deadspin tipped us off to Washington Wizards' center Brendan Haywood coming just short of insisting that Marbury come out and swear "No Homo" upon seeing the above video. Haywood said:
"That's like gay porn. I don't understand it. He's dancing to a song called ‘Barbie Doll', doing like stripper moves. I have no idea what's going on with the guy, it's almost like he's trying to end his own career. There's not a GM out there that would touch Marbury right now Have you seen the ‘Barbie Doll' clip? Click on YouTube and go to Barbie Doll. There's no way any other professional athletes would wanna get dressed around this guy, because you gotta think something is a little, he's swinging from both sides of the fence."
Marbury currently is in limbo after his short stint with the Boston Celtics expired at the end of last season. The only serious rumors around Starbury's basketball future have been that he may head to Europe next year, where behavior like this is more widely accepted (it's also where behavior like this flies!). The Post suggests that no NBA offers are likely headed his way with videos like the latest one that surfaced of Marbury openly admitting to smoking marijuana since he's not under contract at the moment. That video along with the other video called into question by Haywood, a clip of Steph dramatically crying while a friend rubs his sweat-laden shoulders during the marathon podcast, are after the jump.
Starbury does still have his supporters. One YouTube commenter on the Barbie video wrote, "If Britney did this no one would be complaining, let the man do his thing!" Now let's hope that Jay-Z catches onto that sentiment and brings back the Coney Island native when the Nets eventually find their way to Brooklyn.

at least he isn't Michael Vick that torture dogs for his pleasure and now states he is a dog lover.
Isn't that some sh!t, i couldn't agree more, i don't believe one damn bi of that nonsense.
On Marbury, i say GAY! Maybe he's crying because he's still trying to fit in, in a world(sports) that still largely shuns and frowns upon those who are gay. I just hope he sorts his soul out so he can go on living and hopefully find peace.
...some jokes fly over your heads...
Oh
My
F#@&ing
Gawd!
Starbury has been hitting the glass dick...
It's nice to know that over the top homophobia and discrimination is still par for the course in the NBA.
Wow, I thought Stephon Marbury was a huge tool until I read Washington Wizards' center Brendan Haywood's quote! What a homophobe! Makes Marbury seem like a decent dude by comparison.
Are people really shocked about the homophobic comments/feelings in the NBA?
Seriously, it's just a reflection of the young African-American male culture's view of homosexuality.
I got to the 48 second mark and had to turn off that video. I wish I could turn back time to when I still had a chance to not watch that.
Uhh, I think Brendan Haywood may have a point.
This ain't going to end well.
Outside of the arena, why would anyone care about what an athlete does/says/thinks/reads/watches/etc/etc/etc? Every once in awhile someone comes along with something to say, but for the most part they're like children - should be seen, but not heard.
Dude can't dance. If dog torturer/Killer is back in the NFL than let this bad dancer back in the NBA.
He's just trying to dance the gay stuff out of his system.
This episode isn't about homophobia (after all, he's not having sex with a dude in the video), it's about gender. Gender and all the rules and expectations associated with it limit us as people, and men bear the brunt these days. It's the reason boys think stupid and violent is the only way to be, and girls far outnumber them in college.
If someone wants to dance, let him dance. If he wants to cry, let him cry. Stop making it your business, and stop policing what's acceptable masculine behavior.
This man CLEARLY has had a history of mental and emotional health issues throughout his entire career. Problems that can CLEARLY be assessed observing ten minutes of this guy and the Knicks organization not only gave him a contract that paid him more than Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dirk Nowitzki and a myriad of people who actually deserved fat contracts but they gave him his own TALK SHOW on msg. You have a crazy man and you give him a talk show? He should get a padded cell. The Knicks are so fucked up.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that vid is strangely hot.
He needs help right away.
