At a health care reform town hall in Fresh Meadows Wednesday, one angry attendee warned Anthony Weiner, "Last time I looked this is still America—not China, not Russia, not Cuba," and last night in Midwood the congressman got more of the same. During a noontime meeting at the Council Center for Senior Citizens, one elderly constituent opined, "It's a Socialist country!" The crowd cheered, for surely all in attendance proudly refuse such "Socialist" handouts as Social Security and Medicare. But the bigger issue yesterday was that the meeting delayed the center's lunch service. Hungry retired postal worker David Figman told the Daily News, "I came to eat and I came to eat on time. They are having chicken marsala today and the food is good." More seniors grew impatient as the meeting dragged on past 12:15, and 61-year-old Linda Lefton fumed, "Usually our lunch starts at noon. I think he is going to cause us to delay our lunch. That's no good." 76-year-old Albert Fink moaned, "I'm just hungry." Finally, administrators interceded to end the forum at 12:22 p.m., but it makes ya' wonder: Why is Obama trying to euthanize seniors with forced starvation?

Old people are such babies.
Great pic.
as the meeting dragged on past 12:15, and 61-year-old Linda Lefton fumed, "Usually our lunch starts at noon. I think he is going to cause us to delay our lunch. That's no good."
Note to Linda: You are NOT a senior yet. Step away from the free lunch.
Ha!
if they don't want their monthly social security payment, they can send them to me. and, I'll take the medicare coverage if they don't want it.
how much are they paying for this lunch anyway?
I'd be happy if the government would just stop stealing large amounts from my paycheck to give to the "anti-socialism" dickbags.
true, and at my salary range, I'll be paying that FICA rate forever while the richies get taxed on the first 106K or so. I don't see my salary ever getting to 100K plus.
take thee to the death panel.
"Why is Obama trying to euthanize seniors with forced starvation?"
oh Del Signore, you take the cake.
“It must be made clear to anyone suffering from an incurable disease that the useless dissipation of costly medications drawn from the public store cannot be justified.”
Hitler was correct, giving endless drugs to people who have a 2% (margin of error 4%) chance of living is insane. Giving home health aids to feed the morbidly obese who are too fat to stand up so they shit in a pan is insane. Giving 100Ks of cancer drugs to someone who has a 5% chance of living is just corporate welfare for drug companies. Nobody ever questions crooked docs who hand out govt paid "nurses" to 40 year olds with "arthritis". "medical necessity" has no oversight.
About Socialism, I see nobody protesting with signs to
-close the socialist "public schools" that rob students from the free market private schools
-to close the public libraries steal business from free market Barnes and Noble and Blockbusters
-to bring back the volunteer/free market fire departments that you pay a membership fee to for them to come and put out the fire that NYC destroyed with 1898 consolidation
-shut down the NYPD and replace it with privately funded militias
Viva free market!
1. There are tons of people who want to abolish public schools.
2. I have heard many people argue for privatization of public libraries.
3. Some cities have considered or implemented privatized fire departments.
4. This one I haven't heard of...that is probably a little far.
I would cut off their tapioca rations!
I don't think there's any situation that can't be expertly illustrated with a still from a Simpsons episode. And I'm not being snarky, I'm being sincere!
I agree with those angry senior citizens. All government support should be ended. They need to get back to work, the worthless bums.
John, do you understand how this country works? There are plenty of us who don't like the idea of Social Security and Medicare. But you know what? We're forced to pay into it. So should I not receive my money which is supposed to be stored in a "lock box" (but is really spent whimsically) when I hit retirement?
No, of course not. And that doesn't make me a hypocrite.
I hate the federal income tax, too. But that doesn't mean I should refuse my rebate. They took my money under the threat of imprisonment, so I'll definitely take back what I can.
The liberal bias in your posts are really pathetic. If I wanted to read The Huffington Post, I'd go to tHP.
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATLOCK!
The worst idea these seniors have is they earned all of their retirement and benefits. There is no way the small percentage of their taxed "earnings" (Don't tell me every single one of them worked full time for decades AND killed Hitler) is paying for everything they are getting.
SENIOR ENTITLEMENT: The gift they will never stop demanding, loudly.
