- Yankees 7 Toronto 5: The Yankees won another game with some late-inning heroics. Trailing 4-3 heading into the eighth, Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada launched back-to-back homers to put New York on top 5-4. The Yankees added two more runs on singles from Melky Cabrera and Johnny Damon, which allowed them to turn a three-run lead over to Mariano Rivera in the ninth. Rivera pitched around a home run and a single before nailing down his 33rd save.
- Arizona 6 Mets 2: A three-run third put Arizona up and helped to send Livan Hernandez to an early shower. New York’s offense came from a Jeff Francoeur home run and a RBI single from Alex Cora. The Mets will try and salvage the last game of this series this afternoon.
- Liberty 65 Los Angeles 61: On national TV the Liberty had a big second half comeback, holding the Sparks to only 24 points in the second half to earn the win.

The Mets winning or losing is utterly irrelevant at this juncture -- they're done for the season. The only thing for fans to do now is count the days until Omar Watch is over and he can go spend more time with his family. If Omar is allowed to come back for one more season then there is no doubt in my mind that the Wilpon family is stupider than I could have imagined. However, this shouldn't surprise me. They allowed a know-nothing buffoon like Steve Phillips save his own ass by forcing Bobby Valentine out.
That travesty of justice is merely one of the curses hanging over the heads of the New York Mets. There is another curse that states that the Mets will never win while PR troll Jay Horowitz is still with the team.
The Met's biggest mistake was not getting Joe Torre to manage the team when he left the Yankees.
LOL yeah right, like that was ever in the realm of possibility.
