Locked Out Of Apt., Woman Falls To Death While Trying To Climb In

2009_08_aptfall.jpg Early yesterday morning, a woman fell to her death outside an Upper West Side townhouse. It's believed that 37-year-old woman was locked out of an apartment at 152 West 76th Street, so she tried to climb in from the outside.

The woman was identified as Marta Perez. The Daily News reports that she was "known for sneaking into the W. 76th St. brownstone through the roof - and it appears that's what she was trying to do Friday. " According to City Room, "She went to the roof and tried to get in using a cable, but lost her grip and fell to the ground into a neighbor’s backyard." The News says the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m., while City Room says Perez attempted the climb at 4 a.m. and her body was discovered at 10:00 a.m.

WABC 7 reports that Perez "was dating a man on the fourth floor here and they always remember her walking her dog." The News adds that she had a "troubled past... Her rap sheet - dating to 1997 - includes convictions for assault, weapons possession and selling drugs." This past April, a man who was apparently locked out of his Greenwich Village apartment died while trying to scale a wall in an attempt to enter through a balcony.

I guess she was just dying to get in.

never leave home without your official Batman tactical belt.

i'm preferential to "tactical" thank you very much. it makes everything sound awesomer, even at the expense of being wrong.

tactical belt
tactical boots
tactical underwear

check, check, and check. fully awesome.

Must have learned how to do a B&E during her stint in Crime School.

Guys, c'mon, someone died. Show some respect. For real.

People need to respect idiots? Since when?

What does her rap sheet have to do with her method of death?

Well, I would not be a happy camper if I knew someone was routinely sneaking into my bldg. who had a "rap sheet dating to 1997 with convictions for assault, weapons possession and selling drugs."

And who is that guy on the 4th floor that she was supposedly dating? Presumably it was his apt. that she was trying to enter. But it's not entirely clear. Did he lock her out of the apt. or did she just misplace her keys?

Another winner ... what the fuck is wrong with people, am I supposed to feel bad that she fell?? I have been locked out or lost keys but I certainly do not start climing up or down any building, but hey, that's just me!!
