Teens will be teens, punching friends while someone else films them so the video can be posted to YouTube. Only this time, the puncher was arrested. According to WCBS880, an argument over a video game controller escalated into an incident where 17-year old Ryan Cody beat up a 16-year old boy in the Massapequa Preserve. Cody was arrested for second-degree assault. Nassau County Police Sgt. Anthony Repalone said, "We have a 17-year old who is being charged with a felony assault. You have a 16-year-old victim who had severe injuries to his face, recquiring additional surgery. The fact that they videotaped this and put it on for entertainment is disheartening, to say the least."

Nice quick transfer of weight to the back leg to get some power behind it, but it was still a weak punch. However, weak chin by the kid who took the hit; you gotta be quicker than that when you sense an argument escalating.
And what are the details? The link doesn't have the details. Because it kind looks like the bigger kid (one who was KO'd) put his hand on him first or tried to take something from him. If so, I think you should be allowed to defend your body/property.

Word of advice to anyone who may find himself in a similar situation [i.e. an escalating argument], nearly all people throw their right hand first. Unless the person is a trained fighter, he/she most likely won't kick, tackle or otherwise. And there aren't too many lefties, so more times than not, don't expect a left. Always watch for the quick right.

17 years-old isn't a little kid. That's someone who can send you to the ER or morgue.

I believe they call this "sending a message". We all know there is a much deeper root to violence that will never be resolved but it still needs to be dealt with.
