As the NYC Office of Emergency Management mentioned yesterday, there will be a "marine law enforcement exercise" taking place today between 10 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. New Yorkers were told to "Expect additional marine vessel activity south of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York Harbor." And here are a few more details. It's part of the NYPD's "Securing the Cities" initiative and WCBS 2 adds, "The goal is protect the area from a potential "dirty bomb" or nuclear device. Participants on about 17 vessels will practice checking for radioactive material" (sort of like the highway terrorism drill held in Queens back in June). Photo: wallyg on Flickr

Sorry sarge - can't make it. I have to wait for my cable company to show up from 10A-4P.
At least the city let us know about it instead of hoping New Yorkers won't freak out when they see the verazano covered in Marines.
Thats insane. I know you are joking about waiting for the cable company, but I once had to wait for Cablevision from 8AM to 7PM.
W.T.F. They didn't even MAKE it.
Sorry, nothing to do with the story above, just wanted to vent :-)
I guess there's enough publicity, so we won't be looking at another movie flyover.
i got a dirty bomb, whee you poop into a paper bag, and light it on fire, and then ring someone's door bell...
