Duane Reade Gets What It Asks For

L: Duane Reade by Tien Mao; R: Duane Reade sign by mojo!

Allegedly Duane Reade is getting a new look, and it looks like the natives are speaking out against the corporate chain. That's nothing new, but we still found one dissatisfied customer's sign makeover to be amusing. Do you have anything to add to their call for suggestions? Maybe they should go undercover like Starbucks.

How about leaving the air conditioning on in all the stores during the summer. In the 24 hour stores, they turn the air off after midnight. I'm tired of buying chocolate that's melted all over the wrapper. It wasn't so bad in the 1970s when Duane Reade had rock bottom prices and everything in the store was dirt cheap, but now that they are priced to compete with CVS and the other stores, melted chocolate doesn't cut it.

Why don't you just buy your chocolate before midnight?

Upscaling their logo only ramps up the irony factor...I like it!

New outside look is a lot better. Less tacky. Less of an eyesore. But Duane Reade is still a place I go to only as a last resort, and reluctantly at that. Don't paint all DR staff with the same brush. Some are actually nice and helpful if you are nice too.

Their new logo looks like the Radioshack logo. I smell a lawsuit.

If I ever have to fill out something that requires me to list likes and dislikes, the first thing on my "dislikes" list would be duane reade employees, although I hold the management of that company responsible for horrendous job training.

  • Does anyone else think the new logo looks sort of like Radio Shack's?

The new logo and colors are terrible!

I wonder if the person who "edited" the sign would prefer that there be no Duane Reades in his/her neighborhood.
