Boiling Water On The Penis One Way To Stop Cheating Spouse

072809hospital.jpg Yesterday morning a Queens man was awakened by the unenviable sensation of boiling water poured on his genitals by his wife. Emmanuel "Ojo" Ojofeitimi, 67, sustained second and third degree burns over 30% of his body; his wife Oyindamola Ojofeitimi told cops she was motivated by the discovery that her husband of 20 years had been unfaithful. Speaking to the Post from his hospital bed last night, Ojofeitimi explained that "I didn't know what had happened. By the time I woke up, the skin was falling off." A neighbor says, "It sounded like a woman screaming," and tells the Daily News that Ojofeitimi, a Nigerian immigrant and nurse like his wife, was carried out on a stretcher. But he insists he wasn't cheating, telling the Post, "She does not know how to forgive and forget; she doesn't let anything go by. If I come home late from work, she's always assuming that I'm with a woman." His wife was charged with assault and harassment; her lawyer maintains that Ojofeitimi "had a history of abusing her both physically and psychologically." If so, they can probably call it even now.

The woman is IN JAIL! why because she is a criminal.

    PERIOD

This attacks are isolated, and can not even be compared to the SYSTEMATIC abuse women have suffered in ALL CULTURES across different time periods.

Now if you wanna see the "justice" some women are subjected to:

And to just cite one last example, what would happen if a newspaper tried to put a cartoon in their newspaper article and the title read "Pouring Boiling Water on the Vagina is One Way to Stop Cheating Spouse." Instead of posts saying "lol at the comic strip," there would be an uproar (and rightfully so.)

  • Andrew

    Hi Amanda,

I think dadoc is right on certain areas, and I question your assertion that "woman attacking men is minimal." Just run a search through MSN and you will see what I mean. There are articles upon articles of boyfriends being attacked by their girlfriends or husbands being attacked by their spouses, in many instances where the girlfriend/wife was the aggressor and there was no history of prior abuse by the boyfriend/husband. And, like women, there are many men who are afraid of reporting abuse because they are afraid of being seen as unmasculine. This is why when some men go to the hospital and they were being hit, they tell the doctor that they received them from another source (such as sports, home maintenence, etc.) They don't want to admit that their girlfriend/wife is beating them because of the social ridicule. Downplaying or ignoring these crimes are just as bad as if a female victim was shunned, but society still looks at men as being the perpetrators and women as being the victim because that is how we were conditioned. I'm not saying you believe this, but there definitely is a stark difference in people's responses when a male and a female are attacked. You don't even have to look at the forum--just look at this article. The language is different; it is more neutral than if a woman was attacked. If the roles were reversed, I can bet you that the story would be more graphic, more detailed and the response on this forum wouldn't be so lighthearted. I know this because a similar situation happened where the man was the perpetrator. It may only be two cases, yes, but this is the pattern I have been seeing.

And how do you know she will go to jail? There are many instances where a female who perpetrates a crime gets off because she says she was "abused" (even if there is absolutely no evidence to back up the claim.) If you read somewhere that she was punished accordingly, then that's fine; I'm only going on prior cases where they either get lighter sentences or get off altogether.

So, if people are coming across light-hearted or non-chalant about this sort of abuse, then it can/will be reflected in the legal system.

  • Amanda Harletsch

I can keep posting examples...but i guess they're so easy to find on a daily basis, that there is no need for that.

  • dadoc

Was in no way downplaying the abuse of women. Was flabbergasted at the the lighthearted attitude people have been displaying toward a maimed person. It has nothing to do with frequency/incidence/prevalence rates.

But if you want to turn this discussion into how horribly women are abused, it only puzzles me more. Are you saying he's the scapegoat for all the abused XYs and deserves it? That there is some balance of suffering that must be met? Mutilation is mutilation, regardless of your centromeres. Abuse is abuse, injury is injury, murder is murder. The public's reaction (including yours) is what I call into question.

  • Amanda Harletsch

No controversy here my friend; never said or even implied that an eye for an eye is ok.

Illegal acts ought to be punished.

My point refers to the "comparison"between this specific isolated situation to the "severity" of the outcries against women systematic violence.

  • dadoc

And in that, you are so correct. This gets the big press, even the big blog here, networks, interviews and, shockingly, jokes. The sad part is that somewhere, while we post, some other person is being hurt in some godawful way, and noone will say a word.

  • dadoc

Obviously I meant XXs. Was on the phone.

  • dadoc

So interesting that on this evening's news, the typical

"person-on-the-street" interview reaction was laughter, like this was some big joke because it's a guy. Burns, especially of the hands, feet and genitals, are horrible in their effects. If the victim was a woman, the world would be calling for the execution of the perp. What makes destroyed male genitalia a joke, but female mutilation a tragedy? I just don't get it.

  • Amanda Harletsch

It has to do with a little thing about the frequency of these crimes. Men are attacked by women to these degree in proportion close to nothing, compared tho systematic cultural attacks of males over females...you name the excuse.

The only people that take this as a joke are very likely "males"

The attacker in this case is in Jail, nobody is fighting that.

  • Snoopy

It's all based on the local tribal rituals.

  • yytttt

Snoopy is of course referring to the Ubuntu-Aha tribe from the jungles of Forest Hills.

  • dadoc

And for the rest of you, imagine if it was her dog or cat.

    'Nuf said.

  • dadoc

Yeah, it's got a twist because of their origin, but the Bobitt thing didn't have it. Neither did the "Burning Bed" thing. Had he done the same thing to her, nobody would be laughing. Everybody would be spouting about the abuse of women. No matter what, assault of the (temporarily) defenseless, regardless of the the perp's perceived wrongings, should bring a chill to anybody with a wacky partner. Just find the public's response somewhat unsettling (as I don my Nomex Spiderman undies.)

  • ak

That mistress better be in hiding.

  • rasputinsghost

Why is the impulse when immigrants misbehave the solution is deportation? If one of the all-star racist commenters murdered somebody, nobody would think to exile them to Jersey

  • Snoopy

How can you exile someone to a place they are already at?

  • NannyState

This only proves she's a bad cook and he's a lazy bastard.

  • MisterTissue

New York is full of racists, as seen on this and 99% of all Gothamist comment threads.

  • GLeTigre

How about we drop both of them in boiling water and call it a day...waste's of life the both of them, and their both nurses, I'd hate to go to THAT hospital

  • yytttt

You see, class? This comment PROVES you can be hateful without being racist or xenophobic! We can all learn from GLeTigre.

  • Steven

Shocking she didn't cut off his man tool.

  • GREGORYABUTLER

Well ....she kinda DID if you think about it!

Not Mr Ojofeitimi's comment about how "the skin was falling off" - I would assume that would include the skin of his penis as well.

At 67, he's not going to heal easily - especially in his genitourinary region!

  • Snoopy

This is not the way one would want to start their day.

  • ides_of_march

The woman is a psycho. Lock her up. Better yet, send her back to the third-world hellhole she crawled out of.

  • yytttt

    you are a dip-shit

  • RevWaldo

My thoughts exactly. Third degree burns are no laughing matter. If it becomes infected (which can and does happen even with treatment) he could wind up dead.

  • eyekantspel

She should do time. If the husband had poured boiling water on his wife no one would be joking about it.

  • Spirit of 76

In some countries, if a man poured boiling water on his wife, nobody would raise an eyebrow. Places like Iran, Nigeria, Afghanistan, etc.

  • yytttt

Which part of Nigeria, exactly, did you pour boiling water on your wife in? I'd love to see how cool and popular you'd be if you said that out loud in a room full of people or a subway train instead of hiding behind a computer screen you hollowheaded shitbag.

  • Spirit of 76

Such an eloquent argument, but I expect no better of you.

  • yytttt

Honest, I strive to exceed expectaions. Your argument is a bit weak for such a well traveled individual. Haven't you been to any countries in South America where they eat their wives after childbirth?

  • db

What if he wasn't cheating? And I agree, all a woman and her atty have to say is "He abused me" *gavel down*

  • dbc

In the Post article, the guy admitted he had cheated in the past, but claimed he had been faithful lately. She was mad because of his past infidelity.

  • Outter Burrougher

clearly, she was just trying to disinfect his allegedly cheating penis.

  • hotstepper

"had a history of abusing her both physically and psychologically."

there it is. they'll add a bit of soothing judicial empathy and she'll get off scot-free.

  • Snoopy

Those two names really roll off your tongue, don't they?

    Are they here legally?

  • yytttt

It is also hard for some people to pronounce your name, Dick McAsslicker.

  • "The Boiling Bed"

  • Wza

I was thinking "The Burning Bed"

  • Fer Camberos

OMG yes, caption/image combo of all time, except they really did spot you 80% of it by actually doing this... wow!

  • Mr Mel

Time for a Lorena Bobbitt joke.

What did Jeffrey Dahmer ask Lorena Bobbitt?

    "You gonna eat that?"

  • Wza

    lol@the comic strip

  • yytttt

WOW. That has to be the caption/image combo of the year! Hands down!
