- A Southwest Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at LI's MacArthur's Airport. The crew, which had taken off from Connecticut's Bradley Airport, noticed an electrical smell; everyone on board was safely evacuated.
- The Throgs Neck Bridge has finally reopened to truck traffic, after the three-alarm fire a few weeks ago, but one Bronx-bound lane is still closed.
- The body of a hooker was found stabbed to death in Brooklyn's Highland Park on Friday. A college student who had been jogging made the discovery.
- Classic rock DJ Carol Miller shares some details of her Sunday routine with the NY Times: "I have a little breakfast, and I say hello to my pet parrots. We have a little conversation. One is 28 and one is 12 this year."
- A "socialite" family in Philadelphia is auctioning off artworks by Chagall and Picasso after losing $30 million with Bernard Madoff.
- French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who was just jogging in NYC last week, fainted while jogging at the presidential residence. He is being monitored.
- And the annual sand castle building contest was marred by some rain yesterday, but at least the judges had photographs of the entries to look at.
