Last night, police shot and killed a robbery suspect who they had been following on a wild chase that also left bystanders and police officers injured. A pedestrian told police that people in a car had just robbed him—of $1,200 cash—at West 177th near the West Side Highway. Police then chased the silver Cadillac throughout Washington Heights. According to WCBS 2, "The Cadillac struck a motorcycle rider, and the motorcycle got stuck under the car and was dragged. The Cadillac reversed, trying to dislodge the motorcycle, and hit a pedestrian." The cops came on the scene, identified themselves and then fired (one of the suspects may have had a gun). One of the suspects was shot dead while the three others were taken into custody. The Daily News reports, "Investigators said no weapon was found on the dead man, but noted that the weapon might have been tossed during the chase or hidden somewhere in the car. They were awaiting a search warrant Thursday morning."

See, this is exactly why when I'm out at night while carrying $1200 in cash through Washington Heights, I keep it in my shoe.
Don't do the crime, don't get killed.
what's the over-under that all involved actually are some kind of "business" associates? 1) why the F would anyone go around with that kind of cash and 2) what are the chances the suspects knew they would get such a prize robbing the guy?
There's always more to these stories than any of us will ever know.
Cops should be busting the "victim" for his drug ring any minute now.
It doesn't matter if the thugs had a gun or not, because they were using the car as a weapon.
As far as walking around with $1200 in cash in Washington Heights, now that sounds fishy.
Any small biz owner that closes shop for the night has that much cash in hand.
Come on folks, it's not like this happened in midtown or the UES. I mean this was Washington Heights! $1200 cash + Washington Heights = criminal. It's a simple equation, very "fishy" to live uptown and have $1200!
But wait, the person who was robbed did go to the police...but still...
either way... we got some more scum off the streets and one off the planet. Positive for mankind
This probably had something to do with a drug deal gone bad.
I think it's fishy to be carrying $1200 cash ANYWHERE, Washington Heights or Upper East Side. Poor people generally don't have $1200 in cash, rich people generally have these things called credit cards.
Unless this guy who got robbed was a business owner, my vote is he's likely a drug dealer...
I like using cash. Makes you feel a lot richer than plastic.
I hope I get robbed of $1200 so the cops can shoot the thief dead.
Or he could have been going to pay his rent, buy an HDTV, a car, get a money order, cashed his paycheck. Also not everyone in Washington Heights is poor. There is some seriously expensive real estate there. What is probably true is that this guy was known -- someone knew he had the money (could have been tipped off by someone or the guys just a blabber mouth.)
Either way -- you f*ing idiots are why innocent people of color get shot. You should at least reserve judgement about the victim of the robbery.
That's some excellent detective work! Hope the cadillac survives its wounds.
Great, Pequero's worthless friend says "They didn't find no gun."
I suppose 2 tons of steel barreling down at the officer is just a toy.
Wonderful news that Pequero is dead. I laughed out loud when I read that.
