So last night David Letterman and Paul McCartney were finally face to face, as Sir Paul returned to the Ed Sullivan Theater and made his first appearance on the Late Night show. He talked to Dave about his attachment to the space, where the Beatles made their first U.S. appearance in the '60s—you can watch their chat below, and the performance after the jump.
The masses gathered outside right before 5 p.m. to see the former Beatle get back on a roof and sing some tunes. Here's the set list: Get Back, Sing the Changes, Coming Up, Band on the Run, Let Me Roll It/Foxy Lady, Helter Skelter, Back in the USSR. Were you there?

I was directly across from the Sullivan. I pity the people who slept in Central Park to see Anne Hathaway when I only waited 3 hours to see Paul Effin McCartney. A great show and wow...just...wow!

He's a great composer and musician, it was a thrill to see him on Dave's show. Enjoyed the verbal parrying before the performance and loved the show atop the marquis of the theater. To those commenters who think that everyone over the age of thirty should drop dead.....1)he doesn't look like shit, he looks pretty good to me and 2)I'm delighted that he hasn't bowed out of anything and is still traveling, writing and performing.
Paul should let his hair go silver.
