Awww, the Wildlife Conservation Society has released the first photos of the new Bronx Zoo sea lion pup! Born to mom Clarice on June 23rd, you can see the little one (and the other sea lions) get fed at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. We have yet to hear back about the name or sex of this new pup, what do you think (s)he should be called?

It's sad the zoo is surrounded by condos and the animals are too afraid to come out when you go there to see them.

You need to go on a not-busy day, like Christmas. Then they come out. Seriously, that is the best day to go.

These animals are unable to live by their own now.

Bronx Zoo sucks, they keep those poor elephants in such small areas and the monkeys look so sad. human race is the sickest specie. We caged them to view them only. You learn nothing since they aren't even in their own habitat. horrible.

An African native once kept in a Bronx zoo, Ota Benga committed suicide.

You're a great amusement, Felix! Thank you for the laughs! Considering your great article features something that ENDED nearly a century ago, in 1916 (When Ota Benga shot himself)!!!!!! Since you obviously do not work at or even TRULY know anything about said zoo, you must not have any inkling of an idea that, in reality, the animals ARE in a habitat made to look and feel, right down to the last detail, EXACTLY as the animals real habitat. And the elephants are given plenty of room behind the scenes to play, enjoy life, and avoid the human eye, as all animals are provided. IF you visit the monkey house, you will see that each exhibit is clean and likened to the original habitat, and that the monkeys are playful and alert. They also have area off the scene that they can retreat to should they decide they do NOT want to be in the public eye. From someone who's been to the Bronx Zoo over a 100 times, and who practically knows the place inside out, I tell you this: Next time you speak, you may want to do JUST A LITTLE RESEARCH before submitting your meaningless opinion. Have a nice day!!!!! :D

"Bronx Zoo sucks" is a terrible name. What about Slappy or Squawker?

  • jibbly

I think they should name it Felix The Cat.
