A tipster sent us this photo of the aftermath of an accident yesterday on the Upper West Side, in which a cab jumped the curb on West 86th Street and struck four pedestrians. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured; paramedics took two men and a street vendor to St. Luke's with minor injuries, and a fourth pedestrian refused medical attention. Cabbie Hafiz Faheem tells the Daily News that a beer truck clipped him as he turned off Amsterdam Avenue: "He came behind me so fast, and he hit me. He was not paying attention or he was doing something." It's not yet clear what brand of beer was involved, or if any of the precious cargo was damaged in the incident.

Instead of writing "no charges filed," Gothamist can always just use "yada yada" for shorthand. As depressingly consistent as NYPD is about this kind of thing, we can all guess the unwritten words.

What is the charge that should be brought against someone whose car is rear ended?

I hate to have to agree with the Bicycle-istas, but the human race has basically convinced me that they are basically incapable of operating large (or even small) vehicles in Manhattan without harming innocent bystanders.

    Wahhhhh!!!! Cars are scary!!!! Wahhhhh!!!

If he's jumping into the curb, why is the back of the car damaged? Weird

As the story says, a beer truck hit the cab from behind, which was why it jumped the curb. Also why no charges were filed, since the truck left the scene.

Maybe some teens dropped a rock on it from an overpass.

I think he got rear-ended/clipped by the beer truck and probably was propelled or spun onto the sidewalk.

Were they wearing helmets? Oh wait, we only ask that of cyclists when cars hit them.

i feel sincerely bad for the pedestrians and glad no one was seriously hurt.

i hope they can find solace that it wasn't a bicycle forced to jump the curb which -- according to all the recent press and chatter I read -- probably would have injured or killed 8 to 12 pedestrians easily.

18 if pedaled by a messenger.

huh. who ever thought tons of steel moving at high speed in congested areas could be dangerous?

"He was not paying attention or he was doing something."

Oh you mean like eating pizza with one hand and talking on the the phone with the other? Not surprised.

Hey, it was an accident! Pedestrians are expendable. Look how many there are.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the brew. I await anxiously further news regarding their safety and well being.
