Gotti Jr. Says Kidney Stones Worse Than Childbirth

070809jrgot.jpg John Gotti Jr. is in "excruciating pain" from infected kidney stones, and his lawyers say the prison's refusal to provide him with proper medical treatment amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment." His attorneys have been trying to get him out on bail before the start of his September racketeering trial, and in court papers obtained by the Daily News, they assert, "It is common knowledge that the pain associated with kidney stones is worse than childbirth." To back up their claim, they link to a medical website with testimonials from women who've endured both; one says, "Childbirth has nothing on kidney stones. When you are in labor the pain is like a wave. With a kidney stone it is constant. I would have 10 births before ever wanting to go through the pain of a stone." So given the choice, which would you prefer, a kidney stone or a kid? The former isn't very cute, but at least it never grows up and makes you take it to Hannah Montana.

David Sedaris described the pain from stones being like "stabbed in the back with a knife and then someone jiggling the handle."

Karl Pilkington also said it was quite unpleasant.

That said, here's hoping they keep Junior waiting for awhile longer.

Yes, but Karl Pilkington is a gormless whinger.

I've had several kidney stones. Yes, they feel like being repeatedly stabbed in the lower back. They still shouldn't let him out on bail. The kidney stones will hurt him whether he's in jail or not.

is it true that I can avoid getting kidney stones by drinking lots of water every day?

Yes, per WebMD:

The key is fluids, especially in hot weather. "You should be excreting 2 liters of urine a day," Yee recommends. "That is equal to eight soda cans worth of urine. Of course, you will be taking in much more."

- Water is the best fluid to drink, Brown says. "Not mineral water, either. Think of it -- more minerals."

- Becker advocates drinking lemonade.

- All agreed grapefruit juice probably was not the liquid of choice. Avoid that.

- There is no need to restrict dietary calcium, for example in milk, Becker says.

- Stay well hydrated.

- Drink fluids consistently all day, not just in big binges, Yee says.

- He also recommends restricting sodium (there goes the meat and the barbecue sauce!).

Yes. I haven't had one since I doubled my daily water intake. It's been 4 years...fingers crossed.

And that bottomless percocet prescription can be really excruciating...

Kidney stones hurt. Gotti's a crook. Keep him in jail.

Worse than childbirth? He should... know?

He wouldn't know, but he may have "heard". It's kind of become the "in" thing for people to say that kidney stones are worse than childbirth. I have no idea, but it seems to have become a conventional wisdom of sorts.

I want to start a trend. How about, menstrual cramps are worse than getting kicked in the balls?

I would love to see this man go through childbirth ten times. He is full of sh*t. Totally full of it. Ask any mother who has gone through both. (assuming she opted out of an epidural).

The only thing in common here is you're left with a screaming baby.

A wimpy excuse for a wimpy mob boss. Walking around in public a bathrobe and faking insanity for years not good enough for the little baby? Can't this twinkie get a wheelchair, an oxygen tank and a team of doctors to swear he'll explode if he goes to jail?
I hope Gotti Jr lives long enough to see Richard Simmons play him in the movie.
