Well, so much for even pretending to get anything done. PolitickerNY reports, "Three Democratic state senators walked out of the still-divided chamber this afternoon before their Democratic colleagues convened into a regular session. While it didn't have any effect on the session's outcome--there was no quorum, and as such, no bills were acted on--it was a very public show of disunity in a conference that looks increasingly frayed." The three senators were Sens. Carl Kruger, Hiram Monserrate and Ruben Diaz Sr.—three of the four Amigos (the fourth is Pedro Espada Jr., who is aligned with the Republicans these days). The Daily Politics notes that Diaz Sr. issued a statement to assure people he wasn't switching parties, I refuse to allow myself to continue to be used and to be part of the circus where we vote for bill that governor refuses to sign... I am just tired of this circus." Hey, you and millions of New Yorkers! Also, Senator Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) ranted about the Republicans, the NY Post, and many other things while John Sampson, the Democratic conference leader, said the Republicans and Espada are just interested in "T Triple P"—title, power, pork and patronage—and that's why no agreement has been made yet.

I don't see people burning Tom Golisano in effigy these days and yet, he's the one responsible for this mess.
He didn't take to Malcolm Smith's rudely checking his email during a conversation, so he decided to get even. He managed to do incredible damage to this state. I'm sure he's have a great laugh while the clowns in Albany carry on.
Hiram Monserrate and Pedro Espada Jr. deserve their own circle in Hell for their roles in this fiasco. Maybe Golisano, Monserrate, and Espada should be locked in a room together for all eternity, a scene similar to Sartre's No Exit. "Hell is other people."
My state Senator actually had the gall to send out a 'progress report' claiming victory for that stunt they pulled about passing 100 bills because some Republican accidentally stepped over the white line. She actually wanted to TAKE CREDIT for this 'bold' maneuver. I wanted to puke.
I really don't care whose fault it is now. They all need to go for insulting our intelligence.
Hey, Diaz. If you're tired of the circus, tell Espada to stop acting like a clown.
Vote every single incumbent out of the NYS Senate. Not a one of them deserves to be there. I don't care what party they are, come November, I'm voting against every incumbent. I hope others do too.
I'm with you. I am going to keep a list of all the clowns currently in office, and when I'm voting, I'm going to make sure that I don't vote for any of them. I'd even make copies and circulate them around my neighborhood if it didn't make me look like a complete weirdo.
I completely agree - there's nothing my senator could do at this point to earn my vote for another term.
This is the ultimate irresponsibility given the financial situation were dealing with in nyc. i think these guys (the three that walked out today) should lose their jobs. I don't think every senator should lose their office, though, but I understand the rational of wanting term limits. Term limits are quite popular in NYC, right? Yeah we've got a lot of cleaning up to do election time. Bloomberg has got to go, too. Those slush funds should be serious enough to be investigated and using loopholes to get what you want while abdicating representation of the people who elected you is what these three and bloomberg are doing - ignoring the will of the people and abusing their office and power.
