Being criticized and questioned (by even her fellow Republican party members!) over her sudden resignation, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin fought back on Facebook and Twitter, saying, "How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make." Her lawyer is also threatening legal action over "defamatory" rumors that a criminal investigation might be afoot. Apparently the spotlight on her personal life was too much; Washington Post spoke to John Coale, the D.C. lawyer who "helped [Palin] establish a political action committee and has become her political consigliere of sorts." Coale said, "She asked me, 'Well, what do you think all this is? Why are all these people attacking me?' I said to her: 'Look, that's what happens. They did it to Hillary [Rodham Clinton], and Hillary just pushed through it. It's not going to really stop... You just have to ignore it and move on,' but he added, "she couldn't ignore the hits on the kids. She said, 'It brought out the mama grizzly in me.' She acted like a mother grizzly bear when her cubs were being attacked."

Of course the media doesn't get it because in Sarah's mind you don't criticize or question Sarah - her word is final and that's that. Do so, and she'll get vindictive on your ass. She's got a sh*tlist longer than a river...
I really hope she does run for President come 2012 because I can't wait to watch the Republicans rip her apart. Lord knows she's already pissed a considerable amount of her own party...
In my opinion, if she was SO concerned about her children, she wouldn't have thrown them into the international spotlight to pursue the vice-presidency; especially with a pregnant teen daughter.

She just wants to appeal at the lack of reason of the many Republicans in spite of her infinite lack of qualifications or even moral awareness, purely instrumental selfishness.
This woman represents the worse this country can bring: the belligerent & ignorant populace of the reckless and the dumb!
The reason people didn't have a hard time when other politicians have quit is because THOSE politicians stated clearly why they were quitting:
Examples: I'm quitting the Senate so that I can be inaugerated as President. I'm quitting the Senate so that I can be appointed Secretary of State. I'm quiting as Governor because the sex scandal I'm in has left me unable to govern. I'm quitting as Bush's Press Secretary so I can go make some money for my family being a TV Talking Head. And the old faithful: I'm quitting so I can spend more time with my family.
Having watched the press conference, I have no idea why she's quitting but I think it might have something to do with ducks, basketball, her kids, wanting what's best for Alaska.
That has got to be the largest stretch of a conclusion I've seen on here in a while... When she wants to explain herself further she will.

Her children are fair game because they are the embodiements of "Mama Grizzly's" life choices and good judgement, or lack thereof. She used them like sandbags at the convention and beyond to take the hits that were aimed at her and her brain-dead political waste stream. At the end of the day, this fool couldn't take the rounds that broke through and penetrated her. And where was Todd? Where was that lumbering douche when "his woman was being attacked"? Papa grizzly was in a car somewhere with another woman, giving her cash and constantly checking the rearview mirror.

I am PSYHED for her next steps- She has fought her OWN party ( *wink @ editor) to fight corruption in her own state, she has brought back THOUSANDS of dollars to the people in her state and set government on its feet. Its FINE to hand off to the next guy- because she has other work to do. Work that if she tried to do whilst still governor would be soundly admonished for working on "the peoples time".
