  • From the Gothamist Newsmap: a homicide on E 33rd St in Manhattan, a water rescue at the parking lot of the North Channel Bridge in Queens and a car in the water at Bayfield Ave and Beach St, also in Queens.
  • Rescuers are looking for the second of two teenagers who were fishing at the North Channel Bridge and got pulled into the water. The first teen was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he's in stable condition.
  • The Little People of America are telling reporters talking to them at their annual conference taking place at the Brooklyn Marriott that they would like to see the FCC ban the word "midget" from the airwaves.
  • Gay Talese writes up an account of his first Circle Line trip after 50-plus years as a New Yorker, treating readers to a journey that gives as in-depth a tour of his writing career as it does the history of Manhattan island.
  • Former DC Mayor Marion Barry is claiming that another, ahem, lady has set him up after being arrested for stalking. A spokesman for him called the charges "baseless."
  • A 21-year-old Disney World employee died when the monorail he was driving crashed into another monorail at the Florida theme park this morning.
  • Andy Roddick was on the brink of giving Americans a singles sweep at Wimbledon, but Roger Federer proved his dominance once again to gain his sixth title on the English grass. Pete Sampras made a surprise appearance to watch Federer eclipse his record for Grand Slam victories with RF's 15th championship.
  • Mark Teixeira snuck past the Red Sox Kevin Youkilis to nab his first-ever appearance as starting first basemen for the AL All-Stars. He'll join fellow New Yorkers Derek Jeter and David Wright as starters voted in by fan ballots.
  • Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, had the swine flu! But he's recovered enough to attend the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on Tuesday.
  • And the ticket stubs are still being counted to determine the holiday weekend box office champ. The two big sequels opening, Ice Age and Transformers, both made a reported $43 million for the time being, while Public Enemies disappointed expectations with a $26 million tally.

I saw about 6 "little people" around Borough Hall this afternoon and thought there must be a midget convention in town. I was right!

Don't knock Barry. It took an "enlightened" group of voters and democracy to put him where he was.

I just had some Marionberry yogurt. Am I gonna be all cracked out and on the hunt for some ho's?
