Giuliani Admits Considering 2010 NY Governor Run

2009_06_giulianit.jpg Former mayor Rudy Giuliani finally 'fessed up and told us what we all suspected: He is totally thinking about running for governor next year. On CNN's American Morning, Rudy at first said, "I don't know if I am or if I'm not" running for governor but then said, yes, he was "thinking about it." But Giuliani added, "I don't know if I'm at the point of seriously considering it. It's a little too early." In recent polls, Giuliani does well, winning over Governor David Paterson (but those same polls show him losing to Attorney Andrew Cuomo) and last week he suggested that we call a Constitutional Convention since we're in this State Senate mess—and had some not terrible ideas. Well, if Giuliani brings his 2008 campaign team to the table next year, it should be fun! Especially if people take him to task for his past weirdness (unlike Morning Joe's Mika Brzezinski).

Wish this knucklehead would just disappear. The whole country rurned around during that period due to a strong economy & countrywide efforts. He'd be a micromanging disaster. But would be fun watching him throw impotent fits at the clowns in Albany.

Everyone forgets that NYC was a total shithole on the verge of becoming the next Detroit until Guiliani saved us.

Guiliani haters must be recent liberal douchebag Ohio transplants that dont remember what pre-Guiliani NYC was like.

Maybe what pencap75 doesn't remember is that the Safe Streets Safe City program, which was the foundation on which Giuliani based his supposed and debatable turnaround of the city, was ENTIRELY the work of the unfairly maligned Dinkins. Dinkins engineered the federal funding for the program, and Ray Kelly (Dinkins' Police Commissioner before Rudy fired him, before Bloomberg re-hired him) drafted the program.

And let us not forget that Rudy engaged in something like 14 (I don't have the figure at hand) First Amendment battles, and LOST all but 1 or 2. This former US Attorney does not know shit about the Constitution.

Hey, Rudy. I didn't know you were a Gothamist reader.

Did yall catch his comments about Mark Sanford on MSNBC a few days ago?

It's so nice that they have an expert lying adulterer to offer special commentary.

In other news, water is wet and the sun rises in the east.

Of course he's considering it. He considers running for every possible position all the time. However, if he does run, I doubt he'll win - he's waaaaaaaay to NYC to play upstate.

  • Wza

    Yep! ^^

A halal cart vendor with a public speaking phobia and a heroin addiction could beat Paterson. Polling above him is nothing to base a run on.

  • Gothampc

LOL. I like this game. Let's have more.

    Joey Buttafuoco could beat Paterson.

A wax statue from Madame Tussaud's could beat Paterson.

let's just hope he's putting all of his eggs in florida's basket again.

  • Clarice City

    ugh.

First question Mr. Guiliani, what are you going to do when the Republican and Democrats can't decide who is in charge and won't go back to work?
