THE "POOL" IS OPENING SOON
Yesterday amNewYork recommended readers head to McCarren Pool for their summer concert series, but woops, that venue closed after last year for a makeover. So let's take a look at what's really going on with the Pool Parties this summer. The free Sunday shows are keeping their name despite no longer having a pool, and moving over to the Williamsburg Waterfront. No official lineup announcement has been made yet, but BrooklynVegan posted a list earlier this month that is fairly accurate.
- Sunday, July 12 - Mission of Burma, Fucked Up & Ponytail
- Sunday, July 19 - Magnolia Electric Co. AND Dirty Projectors and White Denim
- Sunday, July 26 - Health & Grupo Fantasma
- Sunday, Aug 02 - Dan Deacon, No Age & Deerhunter
- Sunday, Aug 09 - Simian Mobile Disco DJ set & Fiery Furnaces & Dark Meat & Finger on the Pulse
- Sunday, Aug 16 - Del the Funky Homosapien??? & ????
- Sunday, Aug 23 - Girl Talk, Max Tundra and Wiz Khalifa
- Sunday, Aug 30 - Grizzly Bear and Beach House
Also this week:
- The King of Pop, Michael Jackson died at age 50
- JetBlue announced a live music series at their new T5 terminal
- We interviewed Dr. Dog (who play a free Celebrate Brooklyn! show tonight)
- We also talked to Thurston Moore
- Lou Reed got angry
- Sound Fix will be moving and bringing back live music (but not with the alcohol)
- Nightlife apparently needs to be saved
