Watch Out For Thunderstorms
The King of Pop is gone but the rainy weather is threatening to be here forever. What looked earlier in the week to be a change toward drier weather has completely collapsed. Memories of yesterday afternoon's few short hours of beautiful sunshine will have to pull us through the next few days.
At least this afternoon's weather has the potential for excitement! The morning rain is leftover gunk from thunderstorms that formed west of the city last night. There should be a bit of sun around noon. That heating, combined with an approaching cold front and an upper-level disturbance wil set the stage for potentially severe thunderstorm action later today. The thunderstorm could bring hail, gusty winds and heavy downpours. We're only 1.5 inches away from a June rainfall record. Today's high will be an unpleasantly muggy upper 80s.
A cold front will settle through the region late tonight. Tomorrow's high will be around 80 degrees and there will be a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. That's pretty much the forecast through Tuesday, a mix of clouds and sun with a chance of showers, as the front doesn't appear to be in any hurry to leave.
