The death of Michael Jackson continues to be the focus of much media attention. Audio of the 911 call from Michael Jackson's home was released today. On the call, a caller mentions that a 50-year-old man is not breathing and the the 911 operator suggests that he be moved from the bed to the floor; the caller also mentions that there's a doctor present. According to TMZ, "When EMTs arrived at Michael Jackson's home yesterday, the medics wanted to pronounce him dead on the scene -- but Michael's personal doctor refused to let them 'call it.'" Additionally, EMTs also allegedly saw "evidence [that] someone had been performing CPR on Michael for 'quite some time'" and saw "evidence of Lidocaine -- an old-school drug that can be used to treat disturbances in the heart's rhythm."

The doctor who was present is a Houston-based cardiologist who had been living at the house; Jackson's camp says that concert promoter AEG hired the doctor, who had been living there for about two weeks. There has been talk of Jackson being injected with Demerol, but the LAPD says there is no information about that at this point. An autopsy was performed today; results were supposed to be released but have been delayed for a few hours.

Jackson friend Liza Minelli (Jackson was an usher at her marriage to David Gest) said on the Early Show, "All those who knew him well really know what he was like, and I'm sure that now the accolades are going and I'm sure when the autopsy comes, all hell's going to break loose. So thank God we're celebrating him now." She added, "I'm just devastated. He was such a good friend. And he was just a really splendid man. And a brilliant performer who changed theatrical history. I will miss him, I cannot tell you. I saw him all the time. He was so fascinated with everything. He wanted to learn. Once a week he'd have dinner - when he was in Hollywood he'd have dinner with Gregory Peck, and then another night he'd have dinner with Fred Astaire, and another night with Gene Kelly."

Jackson's ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley posted her thoughts about Jackson on her MySpace blog, "Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general. I can't recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death. At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, 'I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did.'"

And Mayor Bloomberg weighed in, before announcing the official opening of NYC pools, "I will always be listening to his music...In the car on the way uptown I was listening to the music of Michael Jackson. It's very sad. He was idolized by many New Yorkers both young and old and like everyone everywhere we're just stunned and saddened by his death. I think it's fair to say he really was a one-of-a-kind music talent and I just want his family and loved ones to know that New Yorkers are thinking of them and that the king of pop will always be remembered here in the entertainment capital of the world and I will always be listening to his music."

this was yesterday's "tragedy"- move on to the next one already.

Yes it's a real tragedy. But life goes on. I remember the day that Pinkie Lee died also.

Now might I ask can we see what his three sons look like sans masquerade? Do they have funny looking noses? Do they get darker every year? What? Let the people know!

Enough already! The celebrity worship with this one is just getting retarded. Ok fans, here's what happened today: in a room at the L.A. County Medical Examiner's Office, a gaunt, aging dead Jacko with evidence of anorexia was placed on a stainless steel draining table and a coroner with assistants, after X-raying the body, did a careful external examination of the body noting any unusual markings, bruises, if any, and areas of swelling or distension. Photographs were taken. They then carved a "Y-Front" thoracic incision to expose the vital organs such as the heart and lungs. The liver was removed, weighed on a scale and pierced with a temp wand to determine livermortis and true time of death. The kidneys, heart and lungs were likewise removed, weighed, and examined with a special emphasis on the heart which was opened to expose the valves. The lungs were cut open after weighing and samples removed for microscopic analysis. Blood remaining in the heart's chambers was also removed for testing. After weighing and examination, the organs were packed back into the "King of Pop's" body cavity and the it was crudely sutured up. Meanwhile, the coroner carefully took his cranial saw with the powerpack and cut a 'courtesy craniotomy' at the back of "The Gloved One's" head pulling off half of Michael's cranium and exposing his brain. The coroner then cut out his brain and placed it on the scale. Samples were also taken. They packed the brain back into the skull and closed it up. This is done at the back of the cranium to preserve that 'natural look' for public viewings. The entire procedure was videotaped to document the methods used to determine cause of death in case of a future dispute. Personal photographing, although much discouraged, may well have taken place. Samples for toxicology were labelled and sent for further testing. No death certificate was issued.

I don't believe you. Normally I do, but this time I can't. Where are the canopic jars mentioned?

Under the big Horus Column...

I guess this is the state of our ADD, internet-minded world now:

"He died yesterday! Get over it!"

It's strange with gay pride week upon us, I just got finished watching a series of great MJ videos and I got to wonder. How many of those dancers are alive today?

When did NYC becoming the entertainment capital of the world. Doesn't that title belong to Los Angeles?

LA is the movie capital and to some extent the music capital. But they don't have anything resembling Broadway for stage plays. Nothing to rival Lincoln Center. Plus a lot of TV companies are headquarted in the city. Viacom and MTV is based in NYC, as are the networks' flagship stations. The evening newscasts, morning shows and news magazines are all shot at the east coast studios, even if most scripted shows are shot out west.
