- Yankees 11, Braves 7: Derek Lowe didn't pitch quite as well for the Braves as he did for the Red Sox in Game 7 of the 2004 American League Championship Series. The Yankees got to him for eight runs in three innings. Andy Pettitte wasn't much better, allowing six runs in 3 2/3. But the bullpen work of Alfredo Aceves and Phil Coke helped the Yankees stop the bleeding and take the rubber game of this three-game series. Johnny Damon had four RBIs, as did Alex Rodriguez, who hit a homer as well.
- Mets 3, Cardinals 2: After an erratic start, Johan Santana found his footing to pitch seven innings of two-run ball as the Mets cruised into the Subway Series by taking three of four from the Cardinals. Fernando Tatis had an RBI single and Nick Evans had a two-run double in a three-run fourth.
- At the Theater at Madison Square Garden, the NBA met its next generation of stars. The Knicks, who saw their reported targets Ricky Rubio and Stephen Curry go ahead of their No. 8 pick, settled for 6-10 Arizona forward Jordan Hill. What do experts think of him? He's raw but has the body and the skills to fit into Mike D'Antoni's system. The Knicks also made a move for former draft bust Darko Milicic.
The Nets went with Louisville swingman Terrence Williams with their pick after trading Vince Carter earlier in the day. They're in full rebuilding mode, but Williams is versatile and athletic.
