Thousands Visit Rabbi's Grave In Queens

2009_06_rebbe.jpg Yesterday, tens of thousands of Jews visited the gravesite of Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, who led the Lubavitch movement until his death in 1994. While Schneerson died on June 12, 1994, NY1 explains that last night "marked the 15th anniversary of his death on the Jewish calendar." According to WCBS 2, "The wait times lasted up to four hours as groups of 80 filed in to a small space to feel close to the late Schneerson"; a visitor from Miami Beach said, "It's inspirational. It's dynamic. You feel the energy of the rebbe there and it just feels amazing." Another person traveled from Paris with his 13-year-old son; Levy Daniel told the Daily News that they "spent the night there in his rental car. 'I said to my family, I don't need a place to stay,' Daniel, 43, said. 'I just need to be near the grave.'"

Were they expecting him to pick the 15th anniversary of his death to finally come back and reveal himself as the messiah? As a priest I once knew said, god doesn't work in round numbers.

so does that mean satan works in round numbers.

In August of 1991 during a motorcade escorting the Rebbe back to his home, a car struck and killed a young boy, Gavin Cato. He was a child of Guyanese immigrants. What followed was called the "Crown Heights Riots". A bumbling Mayor Dinkens allowed it to continue for days. This was possibly the worst anti-Semitic event in the city's history.

Isn't it funny how religious loons are all the same, no matter what religion they happen to follow?

Never underestimate the power of symbolic gestures. For instance, pouring beer on a the ground for dead hommies ... and ... yeah ... you know where I am going with this, scatologically speaking.

I hope they carpooled to the site. Once there I hope they did not leave their engines idling-for the sake of those still breathing

I guess I should be embarrassed I have no idea who this is.

He's a dead rabbi who a few people think was the messiah. Kind of like a certain other famous dead Jew, only with about a billion fewer followers.

Actually, in their dialect it's "vos vos."
