Che's Granddaughter Starts a Revolution

checarrot.jpg

Everyone loves a good PETA ad campaign, and the latest stars a carrot-clad Lydia Guevara. Yes, Che's granddaughter. She talked about her vegetarian revolution, saying, "PETA's fight for animals was one of the reasons why I went vegetarian. Moreover, this lifestyle has become a true revolution that is attracting more people and is an alternative that is healthier for the planet and for humankind."

The ad was shot in New York earlier this week by Gavin Bond, and will hit the streets in the fall. It features Guevara naked, "wearing only a beret and carrot-filled bandoleer." Let's just hope it becomes available on a t-shirt somewhere!

At least she's not bitching about killing flies. PETA should die the slow, horrible death that animals do when cosmetics are tested on them.

  • Snoopy

    "Viva la Revolución"

    "Make Love! Not War!"

    "Save the Geese!"

    "Eat More Carrots!"

  • criminal.

  • felixthecat2

Snoopy has no life, no wonder he is so miserable and bitter and quite ignorant.

  • Snoopy

It's a nice day. GO OUT AND SAVE THE GEESE!

  • felixthecat2

So much ignorance, fur is inhumane and it doesn't keep you warm and smells when wet. In fact people who wear fur look fat and callous. Antarctica expeditioners don't wear fur. Check out Whale Wars 2 @ Animal Planet Friday nights.

  • Snoopy

    Oh OH!

"... extreme cold outerwear. Family-owned and operated since it was founded in 1957; Canada Goose has built its reputation on core values ... customers include scientists of the American National Science Foundation in Antarctica, the Arctic Rangers, Canadian Special Military, ..."

I wonder what they use for insulation when they outfit "scientists of the American National Science Foundation in Antarctica," recycled styrofoam cups from McDonalds?

The outer "skin" might be "gortex" but that does not keep you warm, it only keeps you dry.

  • Snoopy

Oh great knowing one. Might I ask what the native americans wore to keep them warm for thousands of years?

Some Ralph Lauren 60/40 polyester jump suit?

"Antarctica expeditioners don't wear fur." What is the current fashion accessory for the individuals that inhabit the Arctic Circle? Some Marc Jacobs faux fur scarf?

"fur is inhumane"? I for one don't know anyone who is that hairy that someone would kill them and make a stoll out of their skin.

BTW. On such a night shouldn't you be out protesting something?

Sorry if this gets double posted. Gothamist's server is acting up again.

  • NannyState

She's going to Bolivia next? Cool, CIA's on it...

  • Snoopy

She will need to take the train. I believe the name is on the "no fly" list.

Also I would suggest that she take a warm fur jacket and hat. It gets cold in the mountains of Bolivia at night.

  • thefacts

PETA again shamelessly exploits the body of a human.

  • Mr Mel

You're right she's not responsible for her Grandfather's anything. She is however responsible for the shameless attempt to cash in on it. I doubt there is any relationship to the late Marxist idol.

  • schizofriendly

I hear what your saying. But felixthecat2's post bears repeating:

"At least she's not shillin' T-shirts with Che's picture on it."

    :0

  • Snoopy

It's just a matter of time regarding the shirts.

If she doesn't bleed off her grandfather's image, why is she dressed like that?

People can get their eye knocked out if a fresh carrot hits them. They are pointy and hard.

  • schizofriendly

Hmmm. Maybe fingerling potatoes would have been the less dangerous choice...

  • Gnomie

Now it's happening to me too? Damnit!

  • Mr Mel

I believe you meant now it's now happening to me two.

  • Gnomie

    Punny

  • Gnomie

    The revolution will be trivialized!

    @ ettajames

Whatever your views on CV, this lady is not responsible for her grandfather's actions — "right" or "wrong."

If I were to be held accountable for the atrocities of my ancestors, there would be a lynch mob at my door right now.

  • Snoopy

Don't a large group of Afro Americans still hold present day whites responsible for slavery? Although a lot of those white's great great great grandparents were living in almost serfdom conditions in Europe while slavery was alive in the US.

  • schizofriendly

Exactly. We all have millions of grandparents. Many were persecutors; many were persecuted. And here we are.

  • books

shut up - ettajames - her grandfather believed in greater things than you can understand. A great man killed by monied and the powerful - the same old story.

  • MFer

Che was an animal, a vicious killer. He was a horrible field commander, knew next to nothing about guerilla warfare, but managed to write a "bible" about it. And not ironically he got pawned by Fidel. His legacy will be in t-shirt sales--and just as banal, crass, and stupid.

If you want to find a real hero from that revolution, look up Huber Matos.

  • ettajames

How does she feel about the HUMANS her grandfather tortured? This is gross.

  • Quenepa

If she happened to be fat - due to genes etc - would you still give her your carrot or support her views?

  • felixthecat2

The meat industry has been the leading cause of deforestation in South America. This exploitation of the land and people is just the thing her father would fight against. More power to her.

At least she's not shillin' T-shirts with Che's picture on it.

She looks good in what she's got on.

  • felixthecat2

    I love her

  • ManaTron

Id give her my carrot if ya know what i mean

  • ManaTron

Id give her my carrot if ya know what i mean

  • tsol

She will head up the gulags for bourgeois counter-revolutionary carnivores!

  • Snoopy

What this world needs is more hungry rabbits.

  • hotstepper

PETA: still the illegitimate grandchild of animal activism.

  • Think2wice

I want to roll my eyes and suck my teeth, but she doesn't look bad at all.

  • Mr Mel

"Everyone loves a good PETA ad campaign, and the latest stars a carrot-clad Lydia Guevara. Yes, Che's granddaughter"

Directly descended from Che on her fathers's side and Sacco and Vanzetti on her mother's side.

How much of this pap are we supposed to swallow.
