Last night the CFDA Fashion Awards took place at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. The Daily News reports that Michelle Obama was honored—designer and council President Diane von Furstenberg said of the First Lady, "Her meteoric rise in the world of fashion has echoed her husband in the world of politics." Obama, via a taped message, addressed attendees saying, "On behalf of women everywhere, I want to thank you for making fashion liberating, inspiring, but most of all, fun."
The evening was hosted by Tracey Ullman, who told the crowd, "I'm not going to stay on too long because I hear Kiefer Sutherland is backstage and going to head-butt me." It was after the last big New York fashion night that the actor had the run-in with Jack McCullough. The designer took home an award for accessories design last night, with Ralph Lauren, the sisters behind Rodarte (Mrs. O is a fan), Marc Jacobs and others also taking home prizes.

Is Gothamist certain this is not a Watchmen fan convention?
Ha!
It always makes me a little ill when models/actors and the like descend on some of my favorite places in NYC. It's as if the area has been defiled.
And in an odd turn of events Clare Danes is the only one to not look awful. Though, admittedly, she is not far off.
really expensive clothes.
how relevant.
Those women look like they could really use a double bacon cheeseburger with fries, supersized.
Ashley Olsen looks radiant in the dress my bubbie wore to a wedding in 1977.
Now I know what happened to that Fat Albert character with the funny hat.
I think the woman in the picture on the right fought Batman in issue #147
Btw how many of these overrated hacks actually know how to make what they are wearing? Then again, it looks like my Junior High Home Ec 101 class. Getting so tired of this "Designer Trend", bring back talent, skill, and vision please!
helmets are so underutilized, not only for good lookin' protection, they can also hold your chow, hot water for shaving, you can bail out a boat, etc etc
I really like the plastic flower pot over the head look. It's so much classier than the usual paper bag.
I don't understand that last sentence at all.
"The designer took home an award for accessories design last night, with Ralph Lauren, the sisters behind Rodarte (Mrs. O is a fan), Marc Jacobs amongst others to take home a prize."
It seems to be a jumble of words and names. Can some one interpret it for me?
OK. It appears that the designer (name unknown, but does accessories design), along with Ralph Lauren (the bitch is such a seamstress), and the sisters behind Rodarte (I guess they are designers also, and I have no clue who Rodarte is), and Marc Jacobs who I know has several shops on Bleecker street won awards.
Congrats to all! Whoever you are.
And here I thought all along it was a combination of Pratt, FIT and Parsons going at it.
