Police Investigate Brooklyn 2-Month-Old's Death

2009_06_wing.jpg The ME's office will conduct an autopsy on a 2-month-old who died after being found unconscious in an apartment in the Wingate section of Brooklyn. According to the Daily News, the baby's father asked a neighbor to help revive baby Tuquan Bennett-Shuler, but the neighbor, John Mercano, "dialed 911 when he realized the newborn was near death." When FDNY EMS arrived, Tuquan didn't respond to CPR; he later was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital. The News reports that police were questioning the baby's mother, "who has faced child abuse accusation," as well as the baby's father, who allegedly told Mercano that "the mother smothered the baby because the baby was crying too much."

These stories are so incredibly sad. Yes, babies cry too much. And yes, sleep is scarce. Yes, your hormones are still messing with you. Yes, it can feel like too much. ASK FOR HELP! Especially if the baby is colicky. Put the baby down in the crib and walk out of the room for five minutes. Take a walk around the block with the baby (works wonders). So sad.

Or maybe just use some birth control?

Some people just shouldn't be mothers.

Some people should not be mothers or fathers. They should smother her before she has more kids.

Some people should not be mothers or fathers. Maybe the can smother her so she cannot have anymore babies.
