Asians Appear To Like Little Boys Better!

The NY Times looks at recent census data that suggests an interesting trend in Chinese, Korean and Indian families in America: "If the first child was a girl, it was more likely that a second child would be a boy... If the first two children were girls, it was even more likely that a third child would be male. Demographers say the statistical deviation among Asian-American families is significant, and they believe it reflects not only a preference for male children, but a growing tendency for these families to embrace sex-selection techniques, like in vitro fertilization and sperm sorting, or abortion." CUNY's Joyce Moy says even younger immigrants have held onto the idea that "Families depend on the male child for support," while Dr. Norbert Gleicher, director of a "fertility and sex-selection clinic in New York and Chicago, said that from his experience, people were more inclined to want female children, except for Asians and Middle Easterners."

who the fuck gives a shit? there are over a billion people in asia. If they want to fuck up their genetic pool by having more boys it won't even put a dent into their rapid colonization of the eastern hemisphere. This is why mother nature made gays.

I didn't realize this was a new phenomenon. I know that "bare branches" in China (unmarried males) are a serious problem, with men out numbering women by a larger margin. That, combined with Females in China choosing work over marrriage and children suggests a population freeze in the near future.

And some well off women hire these ladies called nannies who come to their house and watch their kids while they are at work - really!

Over 20 million men have no real chance for a bride in China. What do they have to lose? What future are they living for in culture where family is the center of it all?

And don't forget: The majority of Chinese men are poor peasants and struggling workers without a social net.

You're right. They have nothing to lose and it's more like 32 million single men and crime is the least of the government's problem. I would say a whole scale riots if not political upheavals is in the works for the near future of China. Not a pretty picture.

This isn't exactly breaking news. If you go to adopt a baby in China, you are 99.9% likely to get a girl. I would say 100%, except I know someone who adopted a boy. But its rare.

You guys are missing the point. While yes, it's typical to favor boys in China, this is happening in AMERICA. The article seems to state that these are asian american immigrants, but the couple interviewed also seem to have grown up here most of their lives.

You would think that Asian Americans raised here have a more progessive attitude towards child sex preference, but I guess this article is saying that's not the case.
