I didn't realize this was a new phenomenon. I know that "bare branches" in China (unmarried males) are a serious problem, with men out numbering women by a larger margin. That, combined with Females in China choosing work over marrriage and children suggests a population freeze in the near future.

Forget about a progressive attitude.

Women are more likely than men (barring pregnancy)to graduate from high school, college and graduate school. They are more family oriented. And in the USA, the traditional Asian idea of losing daughters to the son-in-law's family makes no sense.

From a crass utilization perspective, girls are the better deal.
