The war of the words between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and talk show host David Letterman continues, with Palin's appearance on the Today Show this morning. Referring to Letterman's questionable "jokes" about her trip to New York, suggesting that A-Rod might impregnate her daughter and that they should keep Eliot Spitzer away, Palin told Matt Lauer, “I would like to see him apologize to young women across the country [for contributing to a culture] that says it’s OK to talk about statutory rape...It's not cool; it's not funny.”

Letterman had claimed his joke referred to 18-year-old Bristol Palin, but it was actually 14-year-old Williow who was visiting New York with her parents. Palin also slammed "acceptance of a celebrity being able to get away with a disparaging comment that does erode a young girl’s self-esteem and does contribute to some of the problems we have in society.” She said pointed out that Obama said his family was "off-limits," yet with attacks on GOP families, there's a "political double standard."
As for Letterman's dig that she was in New York to pick up make-up for her "slutty flight attendant look," Palin said, "My first opinion was, ‘Don't disparage flight attendants.' They work hard. We love ’em."

Sarah Palin, meet Strawman, Strawman, Sarah Palin. I'm sure you guys will get along great!
You know, with all this brouhaha, I think I'll start watching Dave again. Choke on that, Governor "The Palins have no intention of providing a ratings boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show."
Whereas the Palin's do have every intention to grab as much media attention as possible. Thank you Gothamist!
Palin is getting to be a lot like celebrity and they loving publicity. Head back to Alaska and the joke and story will die out...
oh get over it bitch. u fail at being a responsible human/mother. don't blame your shortcomings on a cranky old man.
how about use that time and energy at governing Alaska? moron.
Yeah don't pick on flight attendants. Ya know, they're a lot like commmunity organizers, except they have actual responsibilities.
I don't recall Obama's daughters getting pregnant at 18, having a shotgun engagement, breaking up, then doing the talkshow circuit (in the public eye by CHOICE)advocating abstinence when they were prime examples of how useless it is...
Obviously it was a slip up regarding which daughter- and he did apologize. And I don't see how his remarks were disparging to any flight attendants; unless they are slutty flight attendants who resent being said they look like Sarah Palin.
ddvrom, I hate Palin, but she is hot, so most likely a flight attendant wouldn't mind getting compared to her. This has nothing to do with anything, but Palin is hot and I hate her, mmmmmmm.
Palin develops a vendetta against anyone who even remotely disparages her or her family. If you're gonna go apesh*t every time a talk show host makes a stupid joke at your expense you're going to spend a lot of time drawing up lists of enemies. Her presidency would make Bush and Nixon's look like Dag Hammarskjold or something...
so she'll use the imaginary statutory rape of her 14-year-old daughter, which the joke wasn't even suggesting, and imply Letterman's a pedo, all in the name of publicity? as if this woman hasn't already proven herself to be a craven vile attention whore, she does this.
She's going to milk this controversy all the way (until she's voted out of office).
As long as these kinds of stories remain the dominant narrative of the GOP, Democrats have nothing to fear on the national level.
She's just using this to solidify her cred with the right wing kooks who hate the media and Hollywood, etc etc etc. As if she needed that.
Anybody who thinks that Palin is making too much of a big deal about the Letterman “jokes” “feud” is completely missing the big picture. Palin and her fans complaining ad nauseum about Letterman’s “jokes” really has absolutely nothing to do with Letterman or his “jokes.”
This feigned complaining is all very clever misdirection.
It is intended to change everyone’s attention from last week’s disastrous story in HuffPost about Palin having been caught plagiarizing.
Story: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/geoffrey-dunn/palin-plagiarizes-gingric_b_212228.html
And, as an extra bonus, the Palins get to play victim again and keep their name in the news.
So, you can be sure that Palin and her fans will continue to “drag this out” for as long as it takes until everyone conveniently forgets about Palin’s plagiarizing problem.
Palin's entire state needed to be annexed by Russia. I'd be happy to get some extra vodka out of the deal.
Come on Governor! Everybody knows Republican family members are fair game.
They are when the Republican policy of promoting only abstinence to teenagers,to the exclusion of everything else, doesn't even work for them.
Sarah Palin, please, please, just go away. The few remaining intelligent voices in the Republican party know you are poison and a guaranteed loser in any national race, and we progressives found you amusing for a while, but are now just tired of you...go away.
true conservatives must cringe every time this woman get's in front of a camera. It's all just too much for her to handle. It's so much fun to watch her struggle.
We Luv Sarah & her family I hope she doesn't get into the disgraceful thing called Washington politics, because the libreals will do anything, anything to get their point, meassage, idea, thought, & image there where they (libreals) want it to go. They want to take away our rights and I applaud Governer Palin for really given it to mattie matel this morning. As far as I'm concerned he ,letterman & all the other libreals on Obama TV such NBC ABC CBS MSNBC CNN , the Hufffffffington report these and others like them need to go down!
I love how conservatives think every news outlet except for Fox News is liberally biased. Although as Stephen Colbert points out. reality does have a fairly liberal bias so I guess there's that.
Also what rights do they want to take away, exactly? The right to tell people they can't have abortions? The right to tell gay people they can't marry?
In case you haven't been paying attention (and it's kinda obvious that you haven't) Conservatives are the ones who try to force their views on everyone else, even though they are in the minority. Liberals are vocal, yes, but when a Conservative disagrees with you, they oppose you with VIOLENCE. When Conservatives disagree, they ASSASSINATE you, the BOMB your house, your church or you place of business, the undermine your economy and if they are in power they launch ILLEGAL WARS on sovereign nations. I suggest you wake up and take a look around you. You could also use some more education, learn to READ and WRITE.
"Sarah Palin, paging Sarah Palin......you have a call from the PRESIDENT OF FRANCE on line 2...I repeat, THE PRESIDENT OF FRANCE...it's him this time. Really.
Honest."
friggin idiot.
I'm confused, which of her daughters are we not supposed to fuck?
She's hot but I don't like how she talks.
She's hot but I don't like how she talks.
Exxon wouldn't even clean up after their own spills.
Girl, don't go away mad.
Girl, just go away.
Girl, don't go away mad.
Girl, just go away.
I am a slutty flight attendant and strongly object to being compared to Sarah Palin!
When conservative radio show host Don Imus made an inappropriate "nappy-headed ho's" joke about Rutgers’ women basketball players, he got what he deserved – being fired from MSNBC and CBS radio.
But when liberal TV show host David Letterman made a similar sexually perverted “knocked out” joke about Sarah Palin’s daughter, I have yet to see the media or public outrage about it. Is there a double standard here? I would say YES.
Is it O.K. for an older white male media personality to make a sexually perverted joke to a white woman, but not to a black woman? No, it is not O.K. to make such kind of joke to any women period. Why haven’t I seen Rev. Al Sharpton calling for David Letterman’s apology?
Is it O.K. to make an inappropriate joke to children of conservative politicians, but not O.K. to make a similar joke to children of liberal politicians? Of course not!
I am disappointed that the media (especially CBS) and the public would choose to exercise “selective justice.”
While I try to avoid reading or watching anything with Palin in the title, it makes my day to see that others share in my disgust for this woman.
I hope you're kidding. While Letterman's jokes were in slightly poor taste (and not very funny), if you can't see the difference between the two situations, given the history of the people involved and the context, you need to get another lobotomy and spare us future comments.
Thanks, Cker. Good point.
How are the situations so different, Manitoba, given the history of women in this country and the current situation of women in many parts of the world?
By the way, I think Palin is overreacting, and it would be really easy to fall into the trap of wanting to defend your family, especially your children, against personal jabs. Obama's daughters will make mistakes. Are they "off-limits" because they're black? I hope this country isn't still that racist.
"How are the situations so different?" Because the basketball players weren't hos. Bristol Palin, on the other hand, has proven herself to be sexually active and irresponsible. And Sarah Palin is not defending her daughter. She's using Dave's (actually Dave's joke writer's) mistake as an excuse to make ridiculous accusations about statutory rape, since she knows she can't defend Bristol against those jokes. If it had been Bristol on the trip to NY, the only thing Sarah could have done was fume.
Thanks Sarah for coming on here and making your first and only comment about your stupid family and your faux outrage about Letterman.
We all know you are doing this pathetic whining so folks might forget how you got caught last week plagiarizing and this week selling out to Exxon.
We will not forget.
We will also not forget that you are a dishonest and corrupt politician, a lousy parent and stupid and ignorant.
You obviously only got where you are by giving lots of BJ's etc.
You give Palin too much credit. She's a mom.
That was to Spirit of 76.
"the candidate that must be obeyed"
I wonder if she realizes that his comments about families being off limits were in regards to HER family, not his, given that obviously his family were never in the news when he was asked that question.
